We update the global fit to electroweak precision observables, including the effect of the latest measurements at hadron colliders of the $W$ and top-quark masses and the effective leptonic weak mixing angle. We comment on the impact of these measurements in terms of constraints on new physics. We also update the bounds derived from the fit to the Higgs-boson signal strengths, including the observables measured at the LHC Run 2, and compare the improvements with respect to the 7 and 8 TeV results.

Hadronic vacuum polarization (HVP) is not only a critical part of the Standard Model (SM) prediction for the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon $(g-2)_mu$, but also a crucial ingredient for global fits to electroweak (EW) precision observables due to its contribution to the running of the fine-structure constant encoded in $Deltaalpha^{(5)}_text{had}$. We find that with modern EW precision data, including the measurement of the Higgs mass, the global fit alone provides a competitive, independent determination of $Delta alpha^{(5)}_text{had}big|_text{EW}=270.2(3.0)times 10^{-4}$. This value actually lies below the range derived from $e^+e^-totext{hadrons}$ cross-section data, and thus goes into the opposite direction as would be required if a change in HVP were to bring the SM prediction for $(g-2)_mu$ into agreement with the Brookhaven measurement. Depending on the energy where the bulk of the changes in the cross section occurs, reconciling experiment and SM prediction for $(g-2)_mu$ by adjusting HVP would thus not necessarily weaken the case for physics beyond the SM (BSM), but to some extent shift it from $(g-2)_mu$ to the EW fit. We briefly explore some options of BSM scenarios that could conceivably explain the ensuing tension.

For a long time, global fits of the electroweak sector of the Standard Model (SM) have been used to exploit measurements of electroweak precision observables at lepton colliders (LEP, SLC), together with measurements at hadron colliders (Tevatron, LH C), and accurate theoretical predictions at multi-loop level, to constrain free parameters of the SM, such as the Higgs and top masses. Today, all fundamental SM parameters entering these fits are experimentally determined, including information on the Higgs couplings, and the global fits are used as powerful tools to assess the validity of the theory and to constrain scenarios for new physics. Future measurements at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the International Linear Collider (ILC) promise to improve the experimental precision of key observables used in the fits. This paper presents updated electroweak fit results using newest NNLO theoretical predictions, and prospects for the LHC and ILC. The impact of experimental and theoretical uncertainties is analysed in detail. We compare constraints from the electroweak fit on the Higgs couplings with direct LHC measurements, and examine present and future prospects of these constraints using a model with modified couplings of the Higgs boson to fermions and bosons.
We present the results of a global fit to the Aligned Two-Higgs Doublet Model, assuming that there are no new sources of CP violation beyond the quark mixing matrix. We use the most constraining flavour observables, electroweak precision measurements and the available data on Higgs signal strengths and collider searches for heavy scalars, together with the theoretical requirements of perturbativity and positivity of the scalar potential. The combination of all these constraints restricts the values of the scalar masses, the couplings of the scalar potential and the flavour-alignment parameters. The numerical fits have been performed using the open-source HEPfit package.
The program HiggsSignals confronts the predictions of models with arbitrary Higgs sectors with the available Higgs signal rate and mass measurements, resulting in a likelihood estimate. A new version of the program, HiggsSignals-2, is presented that contains various improvements in its functionality and applicability. In particular, the new features comprise improvements in the theoretical input framework and the handling of possible complexities of beyond-the-SM Higgs sectors, as well as the incorporation of experimental results in the form of Simplified Template Cross Section (STXS) measurements. The new functionalities are explained, and a thorough discussion of the possible statistical interpretations of the HiggsSignals results is provided. The performance of HiggsSignals is illustrated for some example analyses. In this context the importance of public information on certain experimental details like efficiencies and uncertainty correlations is pointed out. HiggsSignals is continuously updated to the latest experimental results and can be obtained at https://www.gitlab.com/higgsbounds/higgssignals .

In the global fit of the Standard Model using Gfitter, electroweak precision observables as well as constraints from direct Higgs searches have been compared with state-of-the-art electroweak predictions. We use the most recent results for direct Hig gs searches at LEP and Tevatron and the latest measurements of m_t and M_W. Example results are an estimation of the mass of the Higgs boson (M_H=116.3 +15.6 -1.3 GeV) and a forth-order result for the strong coupling constant (alpha_S(M_Z^2)=0.1193 +-0.0028(exp) +-0.0001(theo)). A fit of the oblique parameters (STU) to the electroweak data is performed, in order to constrain physics beyond the Standard Model. For instance, the parameter space of the Littlest Higgs Model with T-parity can be restricted via the oblique parameters. In addition, fit results for a model with an extended Higgs sector (2HDM) using mainly observables from the B and K physics are presented.
