Fractional derivatives are nonlocal differential operators of real order that often appear in models of anomalous diffusion and a variety of nonlocal phenomena. Recently, a version of the Schrodinger Equation containing a fractional Laplacian has been proposed. In this work, we develop a Fractional Path Integral Monte Carlo algorithm that can be used to study the finite temperature behavior of the time-independent Fractional Schrodinger Equation for a variety of potentials. In so doing, we derive an analytic form for the finite temperature fractional free particle density matrix and demonstrate how it can be sampled to acquire new sets of particle positions. We employ this algorithm to simulate both the free particle and $^{4}$He (Aziz) Hamiltonians. We find that the fractional Laplacian strongly encourages particle delocalization, even in the presence of interactions, suggesting that fractional Hamiltonians may manifest atypical forms of condensation. Our work opens the door to studying fractional Hamiltonians with arbitrarily complex potentials that escape analytical solutions.

Quantum Monte Carlo belongs to the most accurate simulation techniques for quantum many-particle systems. However, for fermions, these simulations are hampered by the sign problem that prohibits simulations in the regime of strong degeneracy. The sit uation changed with the development of configuration path integral Monte Carlo (CPIMC) by Schoof textit{et al.} [T. Schoof textit{et al.}, Contrib. Plasma Phys. textbf{51}, 687 (2011)] that allowed for the first textit{ab initio} simulations for dense quantum plasmas. CPIMC also has a sign problem that occurs when the density is lowered, i.e. in a parameter range that is complementary to traditional QMC formulated in coordinate space. Thus, CPIMC simulations for the warm dense electron gas are limited to small values of the Brueckner parameter -- the ratio of the interparticle distance to the Bohr radius -- $r_s=bar{r}/a_B lesssim 1$. In order to reach the regime of stronger coupling (lower density) with CPIMC, here we investigate additional restrictions on the Monte Carlo procedure. In particular, we introduce two differe

We detail the use of simple machine learning algorithms to determine the critical Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC) critical temperature $T_text{c}$ from ensembles of paths created by path-integral Monte Carlo (PIMC) simulations. We quickly overview c ritical temperature analysis methods from literature, and then compare the results of simple machine learning algorithm analyses with these prior-published methods for one-component Coulomb Bose gases and liquid $^4$He, showing good agreement.

High order actions proposed by Chin have been used for the first time in path integral Monte Carlo simulations. Contrarily to the Takahashi-Imada action, which is accurate to fourth order only for the trace, the Chin action is fully fourth order, wit h the additional advantage that the leading fourth and sixth order error coefficients are finely tunable. By optimizing two free parameters entering in the new action we show that the time step error dependence achieved is best fitted with a sixth order law. The computational effort per bead is increased but the total number of beads is greatly reduced, and the efficiency improvement with respect to the primitive approximation is approximately a factor of ten. The Chin action is tested in a one-dimensional harmonic oscillator, a H$_2$ drop, and bulk liquid $^4$He. In all cases a sixth-order law is obtained with values of the number of beads that compare well with the pair action approximation in the stringent test of superfluid $^4$He.
Path integral Monte Carlo approach is used to study the coupled quantum dynamics of the electron and nuclei in hydrogen molecule ion. The coupling effects are demonstrated by comparing differences in adiabatic Born--Oppenheimer and non-adiabatic simu lations, and inspecting projections of the full three-body dynamics onto adiabatic Born--Oppenheimer approximation. Coupling of electron and nuclear quantum dynamics is clearly seen. Nuclear pair correlation function is found to broaden by 0.040 a_0 and average bond length is larger by 0.056 a_0. Also, non-adiabatic correction to the binding energy is found. Electronic distribution is affected less, and therefore, we could say that the adiabatic approximation is better for the electron than for the nuclei.
The emph{ab initio} path integral Monte Carlo (PIMC) approach is one of the most successful methods in quantum many-body theory. A particular strength of this method is its straightforward access to imaginary-time correlation functions (ITCF). For ex ample, the well-known density-density ITCF $F(mathbf{q},tau)$ allows one to estimate the linear response of a given system for all wave vectors $mathbf{q}$ from a single simulation of the unperturbed system. Moreover, it constitutes the basis for the reconstruction of the dynamic structure factor $S(mathbf{q},omega)$ -- a key quantity in state-of-the-art scattering experiments. In this work, we present analogous relations between the nonlinear density response in quadratic and cubic order of the perturbation strength and generalized ITCFs measuring correlations between up to four imaginary-time arguments. As a practical demonstration of our new approach, we carry out simulations of the warm dense electron gas and find excellent agreement with previous PIMC results that had been obtained with substantially larger computational effort. In addition, we give a relation between a cubic ITCF and the triple dynamic structure factor $S(mathbf{q}_1,omega_1;mathbf{q}_2,omega_2)$, which evokes the enticing possibility to study dynamic three-body effects on an emph{ab initio} level.
