The design of graphene-based composite with high thermal conductivity requires a comprehensive understanding of phonon coupling in graphene. We extended the two-temperature model to coupled groups of phonon. The study give new physical quantities, the phonon-phonon coupling factor and length, to characterize the couplings quantitatively. Besides, our proposed coupling length has an obvious dependence on system size. Our studies can not only observe the nonequilibrium between different groups of phonon, but explain theoretically the thermal resistance inside graphene.

Quantum information can be stored in micromechanical resonators, encoded as quanta of vibration known as phonons. The vibrational motion is then restricted to the stationary eigenmodes of the resonator, which thus serves as local storage for phonons. In contrast, we couple propagating phonons to an artificial atom in the quantum regime, and reproduce findings from quantum optics with sound taking over the role of light. Our results highlight the similarities between phonons and photons, but also point to new opportunities arising from the unique features of quantum mechanical sound. The low propagation speed of phonons should enable new dynamic schemes for processing quantum information, and the short wavelength allows regimes of atomic physics to be explored which cannot be reached in photonic systems.

The quantum oscillations of population in an asymmetric double quantum dots system coupled to a phonon bath are investigated theoretically. It is shown how the environmental temperature has effect on the system.
Our direct atomic simulations reveal that a thermally activated phonon mode involves a large population of elastic wavepackets. These excitations are characterized by a wide distribution of lifetimes and coherence times expressing particle- and wave- like natures. In agreement with direct simulations, our theoretical derivation yields a generalized law for the decay of the phonon number taking into account coherent effects. Before the conventional exponential decay due to phonon-phonon scattering, this law introduces a delay proportional to the square of the coherence time. This additional regime leads to a moderate increase in relaxation times and thermal conductivity. This work opens new horizons in the understanding of the origin and the treatment of thermal phonons.
The dynamics of charge qubit in a double quantum dot coupled to phonons is investigated theoretically in terms of a perturbation treatment based on a unitary transformation. The dynamical tunneling current is obtained explicitly. The result is compar ed with the standard perturbation theory at Born-Markov approximation. The decoherence induced by acoustic phonons is analyzed at length. It is shown that the contribution from deformation potential coupling is comparable to that from piezoelectric coupling in small dot size and large tunneling rate case. A possible decoupling mechanism is predicted.
Spin-orbit coupling is a single-particle phenomenon known to generate topological order, and electron-electron interactions cause ordered many-body phases to exist. The rich interplay of these two mechanisms is present in a broad range of materials, and has been the subject of considerable ongoing research and controversy. Here we demonstrate that interacting two-dimensional electron systems with strong spin-orbit coupling exhibit a variety of time reversal symmetry breaking phases with unconventional spin alignment. We first prove that a Stoner-type criterion can be formulated for the spin polarization response to an electric field, which predicts that the spin polarization susceptibility diverges at a certain value of the electron-electron interaction strength. The divergence indicates the possibility of unconventional ferromagnetic phases even in the absence of any applied electric or magnetic field. This leads us, in the second part of this work, to study interacting Rashba spin-orbit coupled semiconductors in equilibrium in the Hartree-Fock approximation as a generic minimal model. Using classical Monte-Carlo simulations we construct the complete phase diagram of the system as a function of density and spin-orbit coupling strength. It includes both an out-of-plane spin polarized phase and in-plane spin-polarized phases with shifted Fermi surfaces and rich spin textures, reminiscent of the Pomeranchuk instability, as well as two different Fermi-liquid phases having one and two Fermi surfaces, respectively, which are separated by a Lifshitz transition. We discuss possibilities for experimental observation and useful application of these novel phases, especially in the context of electric-field-controlled macroscopic spin polarizations.
