The collinear factorization framework allows to describe the exclusive photoproduction of a $gamma, rho$ pair in the generalized Bjorken regime in terms of a perturbatively calculable coefficient function and universal generalized parton distributions. The kinematics are defined by a large invariant mass of the $gamma rho$ pair and a small transverse momentum of the final nucleon. We calculate the scattering amplitude at leading order in $alpha_s$ and the differential cross sections for the process where the $rho-$meson is either longitudinally or transversely polarized, in the kinematics of the near future Jlab experiments. Our estimate of the cross section demonstrates that this process is measurable at JLab 12-GeV.

We propose and study the photoproduction of a $gamma, rho$ pair with a large invariant mass and a small transverse momentum of the final nucleon, as a way to access generalized parton distributions. In the kinematics of JLab 12-GeV, we demonstrate the feasibility of this measurement.
We apply perturbative QCD to investigate the near threshold heavy quarkonium photoproduction at large momentum transfer. From an explicit calculation, we show that the conventional power counting method will be modified and the three quark Fock state with nonzero orbital angular momentum dominates the near threshold production. It carries a power behavior of $1/(-t)^5$ for the differential cross section. We further comment on the impact of our results on the interpretation of the experiment measurement in terms of the gluonic gravitational form factors of the proton.
Enlarging the set of hard exclusive reactions to be studied in the framework of QCD collinear factorization opens new possibilities to access generalized parton distributions (GPDs). We studied the photoproduction of a large invariant mass photon-pho ton or photon-meson pair in the generalized Bjorken regime which may be accessible both at JLab and at the EIC.

In a relativistic quark model we study the structure of the $N(1710)$ resonance, and the $gamma^ast N to N(1710)$ reaction focusing on the high momentum transfer region, where the valence quark degrees of freedom are expected to be dominant. The $N(1 710)$ resonance, a state with spin 1/2 and positive parity ($J^P = frac{1}{2}^+$), can possibly be interpreted as the second radial excitation of the nucleon, after the Roper, $N(1440)$. We calculate the $gamma^ast N to N(1710)$ helicity amplitudes, and predict that they are almost identical to those of the $gamma^ast N to N(1440)$ reaction in the high momentum transfer region. Thus, future measurement of the helicity amplitudes for the $gamma^ast N to N(1710)$ reaction can give a significant hint on the internal structure of the $N(1710)$ state.
Using the Gribov-Glauber model for photon-nucleus scattering and a generalization of the vector meson dominance model for the hadronic structure of the photon, we make predictions for the cross section of incoherent $rho$ photoproduction in Pb-Pb ult raperipheral collisions (UPCs) in the Large Hadron Collider kinematics. We find that the effect of the inelastic nuclear shadowing is significant and leads to an additional 25% suppression of the incoherent cross section. Comparing our predictions to those of the STARlight Monte Carlo framework, we observe very significant differences.
