In Software Product Line Engineering (SPLE), a portfolio of similar systems is developed from a shared set of software assets. Claimed benefits of SPLE include reductions in the portfolio size, cost of software development and time to production, as well as improvements in the quality of the delivered systems. Yet, despite these benefits, SPLE is still in the early adoption stage. We believe that automated approaches, tools and techniques that provide better support for SPLE activities can further facilitate its adoption in practice and increase its benefits. To promote work in this area, the FMSPLE16 workshop focuses on automated analysis and formal methods, which can (1) lead to a further increase in development productivity and reduction in maintenance costs associated with management of the SPLE artifacts, and (2) provide proven guarantees for the correctness and quality of the delivered systems.

This volume contains the joint proceedings of MARS 2018, the third workshop on Models for Formal Analysis of Real Systems, and VPT 2018, the sixth international workshop on Verification and Program Transformation, held together on April 20, 2018 in T hessaloniki, Greece, as part of ETAPS 2018, the European Joint Conferences on Theory and Practice of Software. MARS emphasises modelling over verification. It aims at discussing the lessons learned from making formal methods for the verification and analysis of realistic systems. Examples are: (1) Which formalism is chosen, and why? (2) Which abstractions have to be made and why? (3) How are important characteristics of the system modelled? (4) Were there any complications while modelling the system? (5) Which measures were taken to guarantee the accuracy of the model? We invited papers that present full models of real systems, which may lay the basis for future comparison and analysis. An aim of the workshop is to present different modelling approaches and discuss pros and cons for each of them. Alternative formal descriptions of the systems presented at this workshop are encouraged, which should foster the development of improved specification formalisms. VPT aims to provide a forum where people from the areas of program transformation and program verification can fruitfully exchange ideas and gain a deeper understanding of the interactions between those two fields. These interactions have been beneficial in both directions. On the one hand, methods and tools developed in the field of program transformation, such as partial deduction, partial evaluation, fold/unfold transformations, and supercompilation, are applied with success to verification, in particular to the verification of infinite state and parameterized systems. On the other hand, methods developed in program verification, such as model checking, abstract interpretation, SAT and SMT solving, and automated theorem proving, are used to enhance program transformation techniques, thereby making these techniques more powerful and useful in practice.
This volume contains the proceedings of F-IDE 2019, the fifth international workshop on Formal Integrated Development Environment, which was held on October 7, 2019 in Porto, Portugal, as part of FM19, the 3rd World Congress on Formal Methods. High l evels of safety, security and privacy standards require the use of formal methods to specify and develop compliant software (sub)systems. Any standard comes with an assessment process, which requires a complete documentation of the application in order to ease the justification of design choices and the review of code and proofs. Thus tools are needed for handling specifications, program constructs and verification artifacts. The aim of the F-IDE workshop is to provide a forum for presenting and discussing research efforts as well as experience returns on design, development and usage of formal IDE aiming at making formal methods easier for both specialists and non-specialists.
This volume contains the proceedings of the 11th International Symposium on Games, Automata, Logic and Formal Verification (GandALF 2020). The symposium took place as a fully online event on September 21-22, 2020. The GandALF symposium was establishe d by a group of Italian computer scientists interested in mathematical logic, automata theory, game theory, and their applications to the specification, design, and verification of complex systems. Its aim is to provide a forum where people from different areas, and possibly with different backgrounds, can fruitfully interact. GandALF has a truly international spirit, as witnessed by the composition of the program and steering committee and by the country distribution of the submitted papers.

Paris-Saclay), John Gallagher (Roskilde U. and IMDEA Software Institute) et al., Neil Jones (U. Copenhagen) e t al., Michael Leuschel (Heinrich-Heine U.) and Maurizio Proietti (IASI-CNR) et al.. These invited papers are followed by 4 regular papers accepted at VPT 2020 and the papers of HCVS 2020 which consist of three contributed papers and an invited paper on the third competition of solvers for Constrained Horn Clauses. In addition, the abstracts (in HTML format) of 3 invited talks at VPT 2020 by Andrzej Skowron (U. Warsaw), Sophie Renault (EPO) and Moa Johansson (Chalmers U.), are included.
