We discuss the coupling of the electromagnetic field with a curved and torsioned Lyra manifold using the Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau theory. We will show how to obtain the equations of motion and energy-momentum and spin density tensors by means of the Schwinger Variational Principle.

We present a scalar-tensor theory of gravity on a torsion-free and metric compatible Lyra manifold. This is obtained by generalizing the concept of physical reference frame by considering a scale function defined over the manifold. The choice of a sp ecific frame induces a local base, naturally non-holonomic, whose structure constants give rise to extra terms in the expression of the connection coefficients and in the expression for the covariant derivative. In the Lyra manifold, transformations between reference frames involving both coordinates and scale change the transformation law of tensor fields, when compared to those of the Riemann manifold. From a direct generalization of the Einstein-Hilbert minimal action coupled with a matter term, it was possible to build a Lyra invariant action, which gives rise to the associated Lyra Scalar-Tensor theory of gravity (LyST), with field equations for $g_{mu u}$ and $phi$. These equations have a well-defined Newtonian limit, from which it can be seen that both metric and scale play a role in the description gravitational interaction. We present a spherically symmetric solution for the LyST gravity field equations. It dependent on two parameters $m$ and $r_{L}$, whose physical meaning is carefully investigated. We highlight the properties of LyST spherically symmetric line element and compare it to Schwarzchild solution.
We develop a field-theoretic description of large-scale structure formation by taking the non-relativistic limit of a canonically transformed, real scalar field which is minimally coupled to scalar gravitational perturbations in longitudinal gauge. W e integrate out the gravitational constraint fields and arrive at a non-local action which is only specified in terms of the dynamical degrees of freedom. In order to make this framework closer to the classical particle description, we construct the corresponding 2PI effective action truncated at two loop order for a non-squeezed state without field expectation values. We contrast the dynamical description of the coincident time phase-space density to the standard Vlasov description of cold dark matter particles and identify momentum and time scales at which linear perturbation theory will deviate from the standard evolution.
We present the first numerical solutions of the causal, stable relativistic Navier-Stokes equations as formulated by Bemfica, Disconzi, Noronha, and Kovtun (BDNK). For this initial investigation we restrict to plane-symmetric configurations of a conf ormal fluid in Minkowski spacetime. We consider evolution of three classes of initial data: a smooth (initially) stationary concentration of energy, a standard shock tube setup, and a smooth shockwave setup. We compare these solutions to those obtained with the Muller-Israel-Stewart (MIS) formalism, variants of which are the common tools used to model relativistic, viscous fluids. We find that for the two smooth initial data cases, simple finite difference methods are adequate to obtain stable, convergent solutions to the BDNK equations. For low viscosity, the MIS and BDNK evolutions show good agreement. At high viscosity the solutions begin to differ in regions with large gradients, and there the BDNK solutions can (as expected) exhibit violation of the weak energy condition. This behavior is transient, and the solutions evolve toward a hydrodynamic regime in a way reminiscent of an approach to a universal attractor. For the shockwave problem, we give evidence that if a hydrodynamic frame is chosen so that the maximum characteristic speed of the BDNK system is the speed of light (or larger), arbitrarily strong shockwaves are smoothly resolved. Regarding the shock tube problem, it is unclear whether discontinuous initial data is mathematically well-posed for the BDNK system, even in a weak sense. Nevertheless we attempt numerical solution, and then need to treat the perfect fluid terms using high-resolution shock-capturing methods. When such methods can successfully evolve the solution beyond the initial time, subsequent evolution agrees with corresponding MIS solutions, as well as the perfect fluid solution in the limit of zero viscosity.
We study a metric cubic gravity theory considering odd-parity modes of linear inhomogeneous perturbations on a spatially homogeneous Bianchi type I manifold close to the isotropic de Sitter spacetime. We show that in the regime of small anisotropy, t he theory possesses new degrees of freedom compared to General Relativity, whose kinetic energy vanishes in the limit of exact isotropy. From the mass dispersion relation we show that such theory always possesses at least one ghost mode as well as a very short-time-scale (compared to the Hubble time) classical tachyonic (or ghost-tachyonic) instability. In order to confirm our analytic analysis, we also solve the equations of motion numerically and we find that this instability is developed well before a single e-fold of the scale factor. This shows that this gravity theory, as it is, cannot be used to construct viable cosmological models.

We present a five dimensional global monopole within the framework of Lyra geometry. Also the gravitational field of the monopole solution has been considered.
