We prove that after an arbitrarily small adjustment of edge lengths, the spectrum of a compact quantum graph with $delta$-type vertex conditions can be simple. We also show that the eigenfunctions, with the exception of those living entirely on a looping edge, can be made to be non-vanishing on all vertices of the graph. As an application of the above result, we establish that the secular manifold (also called determinant manifold) of a large family of graphs has exactly two smooth connected components.

We consider the spectral problem associated with the Klein-Gordon equation for unbounded electric potentials. If the spectrum of this problem is contained in two disjoint real intervals and the two inner boundary points are eigenvalues, we show that these extremal eigenvalues are simple and possess strictly positive eigenfunctions. Examples of electric potentials satisfying these assumptions are given.

We prove an analogue of the magnetic nodal theorem on quantum graphs: the number of zeros $phi$ of the $n$-th eigenfunction of the Schrodinger operator on a quantum graph is related to the stability of the $n$-th eigenvalue of the perturbation of the operator by magnetic potential. More precisely, we consider the $n$-th eigenvalue as a function of the magnetic perturbation and show that its Morse index at zero magnetic field is equal to $phi - (n-1)$.
We construct a distorted Fourier transformation associated with the multi-dimensional quantum walk. In order to avoid the complication of notations, almost all of our arguments are restricted to two dimensional quantum walks (2DQWs) without loss of g enerality. The distorted Fourier transformation characterizes generalized eigenfunctions of the time evolution operator of the QW. The 2DQW which will be considered in this paper has an anisotropy due to the definition of the shift operator for the free QW. Then we define an anisotropic Banach space as a modified Agmon-H{o}rmanders $mathcal{B}^*$ space and we derive the asymptotic behavior at infinity of generalized eigenfunctions in these spaces. The scattering matrix appears in the asymptotic expansion of generalized eigenfunctions.
We consider the time-independent scattering theory for time evolution operators of one-dimensional two-state quantum walks. The scattering matrix associated with the position-dependent quantum walk naturally appears in the asymptotic behavior at spat ial infinity of generalized eigenfunctions. The asymptotic behavior of generalized eigenfunctions is a consequence of an explicit expression of the Green function associated with the free quantum walk. When the position-dependent quantum walk is a finite rank perturbation of the free quantum walk, we derive a kind of combinatorial constructions of the scattering matrix by counting paths of quantum walkers. We also mention some remarks on the tunneling effect.

We study space-inhomogeneous quantum walks (QWs) on the integer lattice which we assign three different coin matrices to the positive part, the negative part, and the origin, respectively. We call them two-phase QWs with one defect. They cover one-de fect and two-phase QWs, which have been intensively researched. Localization is one of the most characteristic properties of QWs, and various types of two-phase QWs with one defect exhibit localization. Moreover, the existence of eigenvalues is deeply related to localization. In this paper, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the existence of eigenvalues. Our analytical methods are mainly based on the transfer matrix, a useful tool to generate the generalized eigenfunctions. Furthermore, we explicitly derive eigenvalues for some classes of two-phase QWs with one defect, and illustrate the range of eigenvalues on unit circles with figures. Our results include some results in previous studies, e.g. Endo et al. (2020).
