Though simple inflationary models describe the CMB well, their corrections are often plagued by infrared effects that obstruct a reliable calculation of late-time behaviour. We adapt to cosmology tools designed to address similar issues in other physical systems with the goal of making reliable late-time inflationary predictions. The main such tool is Open EFTs which reduce in the inflationary case to Stochastic Inflation plus calculable corrections. We apply this to a simple inflationary model that is complicated enough to have dangerous IR behaviour yet simple enough to allow the inference of late-time behaviour. We find corrections to standard Stochastic Inflationary predictions for the noise and drift, and we find these corrections ensure the IR finiteness of both these quantities. The late-time probability distribution, ${cal P}(phi)$, for super-Hubble field fluctuations are obtained as functions of the noise and drift and so these too are IR finite. We compare our results to other methods (such as large-$N$ models) and find they agree when these models are reliable. In all cases we can explore in detail we find IR secular effects describe the slow accumulation of small perturbations to give a big effect: a significant distortion of the late-time probability distribution for the field. But the energy density associated with this is only of order $H^4$ at late times and so does {em not} generate a dramatic gravitational back-reaction.

By making a suitable generalization of the Starobinsky stochastic inflation, we propose a classical phase space formulation of stochastic inflation which may be used for a quantitative study of decoherence of cosmological perturbations during inflati on. The precise knowledge of how much cosmological perturbations have decohered is essential to the understanding of acoustic oscillations of cosmological microwave background (CMB) photons. In order to show how the method works, we provide the relevant equations for a self-interacting inflaton field. For pedagogical reasons and to provide a link to the field theoretical case, we consider the quantum stochastic harmonic oscillator.
Assuming that a scalar field controls the inflationary era, we examine the combined effects of string and $f(R)$ gravity corrections on the inflationary dynamics of canonical scalar field inflation, imposing the constraint that the speed of the primo rdial gravitational waves is equal to that of lights. Particularly, we study the inflationary dynamics of an Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity in the presence of $alpha R^2$ corrections, where $alpha$ is a free coupling parameter. As it was the case in the pure Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity, the realization that the gravitational waves propagate through spacetime with the velocity of light, imposes the constraint that the Gauss-Bonnet coupling function $xi(phi)$ obeys the differential equation $ddotxi=Hdotxi$, where $H$ is the Hubble rate. Subsequently, a relation for the time derivative of the scalar field is extracted which implies that the scalar functions of the model, which are the Gauss-Bonnet coupling and the scalar potential, are interconnected and simply designating one of them specifies the other immediately. In this framework, it is useful to freely designate $xi(phi)$ and extract the corresponding scalar potential from the equations of motion but the opposite is still feasible. We demonstrate that the model can produce a viable inflationary phenomenology and for a wide range of the free parameters. Also, a mentionable issue is that when the coupling parameter $alpha$ of the $R^2$ correction term is $alpha<10^{-3}$ in Planck Units, the $R^2$ term is practically negligible and one obtains the same equations of motion as in the pure Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory, however the dynamics still change, since now the time derivative of $frac{partial f}{partial R}$ is nonzero.
We study quantum corrections to an inflationary model, which has the attractive feature of being classically scale-invariant. In this model, quadratic gravity plays along a scalar field in such a way that inflation begins near the unstable point of t he effective potential and it ends at a stable fixed point, where the scale symmetry is broken and a fundamental mass scale naturally emerges. We compute the one loop corrections to the classical action on the curved background of the model and we report their effects on the classical dynamics with both analytical and numerical methods.
After giving a pedagogical review we clarify that the stochastic approach to inflation is generically reliable only at zeroth order in the (geometrical) slow-roll parameter $epsilon_1$ if and only if $epsilon_2^2ll 6/epsilon_1$, with the notable exce ption of slow-roll. This is due to the failure of the stochastic $Delta N$ formalism in its standard formulation. However, by keeping the formalism in its regime of validity, we showed that, in ultra-slow-roll, the stochastic approach to inflation reproduces the power spectrum calculated from the linear theory approach.
In the framework of polynomial Palatini cosmology, we investigate a simple cosmological homogeneous and isotropic model with matter in the Einstein frame. We show that in this model during cosmic evolution, it appears the early inflation and the acce lerating phase of the expansion for the late times. In this frame we obtain the Friedmann equation with matter and dark energy in the form of a scalar field with the potential whose form is determined in a covariant way by the Ricci scalar of the FRW metric. The energy density of matter and dark energy are also parametrized through the Ricci scalar. The early inflation is obtained only for an infinitesimally small fraction of energy density of matter. Between the matter and dark energy, there exists interaction because the dark energy is decaying. For characterization of inflation we calculate the slow roll parameters and the constant roll parameter in terms of the Ricci scalar. We have found a characteristic behaviour of the time dependence of density of dark energy on the cosmic time following the logistic-like curve which interpolates two almost constant value phases. From the required numbers of $N$-folds we have found a bound on model parameter.
