We study the remote creation of the polarization and intensity of the first-order coherence (or coherence intensity) in long spin-1/2 chains with one qubit sender and receiver. Therewith we use a physically motivated initial condition with the pure state of the sender and the thermodynamical equilibrium state of the other nodes. The main part of the creatable region is a one-to-one map of the initial-state (control) parameters, except the small subregion twice covered by the control parameters, which appears owing to the chosen initial state. The polarization and coherence intensity behave differently in the state creation process. In particular, the coherence intensity can not reach any significant value unless the polarization is large in long chains (unlike the short ones), but the opposite is not true. The coherence intensity vanishes with an increase in the chain length, while the polarization (by absolute value) is not sensitive to this parameter. We represent several characteristics of the creatable polarization and coherence intensity and describe their relation to the parameters of the initial state. The link to the eigenvalue-eigenvector parametrization of the receivers state-space is given.

We study the problem of remote one-qubit mixed state creation using a pure initial state of two-qubit sender and spin-1/2 chain as a connecting line. We express the parameters of creatable states in terms of transition amplitudes. We show that the cr eation of complete receivers state-space can be achieved only in the chain engineered for the one-qubit perfect state transfer (PST) (for instance, in the fully engineered Ekert chain), the chain can be arbitrarily long in this case. As for the homogeneous chain, the creatable receivers state region decreases quickly with the chain length. Both homogeneous chains and chains engineered for PST can be used for the purpose of selective state creation, when only the restricted part of the whole receivers state space is of interest. Among the parameters of the receivers state, the eigenvalue is the most hard creatable one and therefore deserves the special study. Regarding the homogeneous spin chain, an arbitrary eigenvalue can be created only if the chain is of no more then 34 nodes. Alternating chain allows us to increase this length up to 68 nodes.

Quantifying quantum coherence is a key task in the resource theory of coherence. Here we establish a good coherence monotone in terms of a state conversion process, which automatically endows the coherence monotone with an operational meaning. We sho w that any state can be produced from some input pure states via the corresponding incoherent channels. It is especially found that the coherence of a given state can be well characterized by the least coherence of the input pure states, so a coherence monotone is established by only effectively quantifying the input pure states. In particular, we show that our proposed coherence monotone is the supremum of all the coherence monotones that give the same coherence for any given pure state. Considering the convexity, we prove that our proposed coherence measure is a subset of the coherence measure based on the convex roof construction. As an application, we give a concrete expression of our coherence measure by employing the geometric coherence of a pure state. We also give a thorough analysis on the states of qubit and finally obtain series of analytic coherence measures.

We study the average quantum coherence over the pure state decompositions of a mixed quantum state. An upper bound of the average quantum coherence is provided and sufficient conditions for the saturation of the upper bound are shown. These sufficien t conditions always hold for two and three dimensional systems. This provides a tool to estimate the average coherence experimentally by measuring only the diagonal elements, which remarkably requires less measurements compared with state tomography. We then describe the pure state decompositions of qubit state in Bloch sphere geometrically. For any given qubit state, the optimal pure state decomposition achieving the maximal average quantum coherence as well as three other pure state decompositions are shown in the Bloch sphere. The order relations among their average quantum coherence are invariant for any coherence measure. The results presented in this paper are universal and suitable for all coherence measures.
Quantum discord and quantum entanglement are resources in some quantum information processing (QIP) models. However, in recent years, the evidence that separable states or classically correlated states can also accomplish QIP is demonstrated. It prov ides a useful tool since such states are easier to prepare. Quantum coherence is a measure of non-classical correlation, containing entanglement and discord as a subset. Nowadays, it is of interest whether quantum coherence can act as a resource in QIP independently or not, without the help from quantum discord or entanglement. In this paper, we show that quantum correlated coherence(a measure of coherence with local parts removed) is also a kind of quantum resource. It is the sufficient and necessary resource for quantum remote state preparation and quantum teleportation.

This is the second one in our series of papers on indirect quantum control assisted by quantum accessor. In this paper we propose and study a new class of indirect quantum control(IDQC) scheme based on the initial states preparation of the accessor. In the present scheme, after the initial state of the accessor is properly prepared, the system is controlled by repeatedly switching on and off the interaction between the system and the accessor. This is different from the protocol of our first paper, where we manipulate the interaction between the controlled system and the accessor. We prove the controllability of the controlled system for the proposed indirect control scheme. Furthermore, we give an example with two coupled spins qubits to illustrate the scheme, the concrete control process and the controllability.
