We show that the statement in Yu-Xiao Liu, Xiang-Nan Zhou, Ke Yang and Feng-Wei Chen [Phys. Rev. D 86 , 064012 (2012)] that the zero mode of ELKO spinor is localized in some thin brane scenarios is not correct. This reopens the problem of localization of ELKO spinors.

This work deals with gravity localization on codimension-1 brane worlds engendered by compacton-like kinks, the so-called hybrid branes. In such scenarios, the thin brane behaviour is manifested when the extra dimension is outside the compact domain, where the energy density is non-trivial, instead of asymptotically as in the usual thick brane models. The zero mode is trapped in the brane, as required. The massive modes, although are not localized in the brane, have important phenomenological implications such as corrections to the Newtons law. We study such corrections in the usual thick domain wall and in the hybrid brane scenarios. By means of suitable numerical methods, we attain the mass spectrum for the graviton and the corresponding wavefunctions. The spectra possess the usual linearly increasing behaviour from the Kaluza-Klein theories. Further, we show that the 4D gravitational force is slightly increased at short distances. The first eigenstate contributes highly for the correction to the Newtons law. The subsequent normalized solutions have diminishing contributions. Moreover, we find out that the phenomenology of the hybrid brane is not different from the usual thick domain wall. The use of numerical techniques for solving the equations of the massive modes is useful for matching possible phenomenological measurements in the gravitational law as a probe to warped extra dimensions.

We refine a previous proposal for obtaining the multi-instanton partition function from the supersymmetric index of the 1d supersymmetric gauge theory on the worldline of D0-branes. We provide examples where the refinements are crucial for obtaining the correct result.
In this paper we present two different solutions to the problem of zero mode localization of ELKO spinor. In a recent paper the present authors reopened this problem since the solution presented before did not satisfy the boundary condition at the or igin. The first solution is given by the introduction of a mass term and by coupling the spinor with the brane through a delta function. The second solution is reached by a Yukawa geometrical coupling with the Ricci scalar. This two models changes consistently the the boundary condition at infinity and at the origin. For the case of Geometrical coupling we are able to show that the zero mode is localized for any smooth version of the RS model.

This paper shows how to construct anomaly free world sheet actions in string theory with $D$-branes. Our method is to use Deligne cohomology and bundle gerbe theory to define geometric objects which are naturally associated to $D$-branes and connecti ons on them. The holonomy of these connections can be used to cancel global anomalies in the world sheet action.

Certain black branes are unstable toward fluctuations that lead to non-uniform mass distributions. We study static, non-uniform solutions that differ only perturbatively from uniform ones. For uncharged black strings in five dimensions, we find evide nce of a first order transition from uniform to non-uniform solutions.
