We study the precision with which the t-channel single top quark production cross section is expected to be measured in future LHC runs at 14 TeV. The single top final state has a lepton and neutrino from the top quark decay plus two jets, one of which is required to be b-tagged. This measurement is done in the context of the Snowmass 2013 study for the low-luminosity 14 TeV and the high-luminosity 14 TeV LHC as well as for high-luminosity 33 TeV LHC.
The top quark, discovered in 1995 by the CDF and D0 collaborations at the Tevatron proton antiproton collider at Fermilab, has undergone intense studies in the last 20 years. Currently, CDF and D0 converge on their measurements of top-antitop quark p
The top-quark is the heaviest known particle of the Standard Model (SM); its heavy mass plays a crucial role in testing the electroweak symmetry breaking mechanism and for searching for new physics beyond the SM. In this paper, we determine the top-q
This paper provides a review of the experimental studies of processes with a single top quark at the Tevatron proton-antiproton collider and the LHC proton-proton collider. Single top-quark production in the t-channel process has been measured at bot
Single top-quark t-channel production is exploited for studies of top quark properties. The analyses include the measurement of the CKM matrix element, $|V_{tb}|$, search for anomalous couplings of the top quark using a Bayesian neural network analys
The first double diffractive cross-section measurement in the very forward region has been carried out by the TOTEM experiment at the LHC with center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s)=7 TeV. By utilizing the very forward TOTEM tracking detectors T1 and T2, w
