We have carried out muon spin relaxation (muSR), neutron diffraction and inelastic neutron scattering (INS) investigations on polycrystalline samples of Ce(Ru1-xFex)2Al10 (x=0, 0.3, 0.5, 0.8 and 1) to investigate the nature of the ground state (magnetic ordered versus paramagnetic) and the origin of the spin gap formation as evident from the bulk measurements in the end members. Our zero-field muSR spectra clearly reveal coherent two-frequency oscillations at low temperature in x=0, 0.3 and 0.5 samples, which confirms the long-range magnetic ordering of the Ce-moment with TN=27, 26 and 21 K respectively. On the other hand the muSR spectra of x=0.8 and x=1 down to 1.4 K and 0.045 K, respectively exhibit a temperature independent Kubo-Toyabe term confirming a paramagnetic ground state. The long-range magnetic ordering in x=0.5 below 21 K has been confirmed through the neutron diffraction study. INS measurements of x=0 clearly reveal the presence of a sharp inelastic excitation near 8 meV between 5 K and 26 K, due to an opening of a gap in the spin excitation spectrum, which transforms into a broad response at and above 30 K. Interestingly, at 4.5 K the spin gap excitation broadens in x=0.3 and exhibits two clear peaks at 8.4(3) and 12.0(5) meV in x=0.5. In the x=0.8 sample, which remains paramagnetic down to 1.2 K, there is a clear signature of a spin gap of 10-12 meV at 7 K, with a strong Q-dependent intensity. Evidence of a spin gap of 12.5(5) meV has also been found in x=1. The observation of a spin gap in the paramagnetic samples (x=0.8 and 1) is an interesting finding in this study and it challenges our understanding of the origin of the semiconducting gap in CeT2Al10 (T=Ru and Os) compounds in terms of hybridization gap opening only a small part of the Fermi surface, gapped spin waves, or a spin-dimer gap.

The microscopic details of the suppression of antiferromagnetic order in the Kondo-lattice series Ce$_{1-x}$La$_{x}$Cu$_{2}$Ge$_{2}$ due to nonmagnetic dilution by La are revealed through neutron diffraction results for $x=0.20$, $0.40$, $0.75$, and $0.85$. Magnetic Bragg peaks are found for $0.20le xle0.75$, and both the N{e}el temperature, $T_{textrm{N}}$, and the ordered magnetic moment per Ce, $mu$, linearly decrease with increasing $x$. The reduction in $mu$ points to strong hybridization of the increasingly diluted Ce $4f$ electrons, and we find a remarkable quadratic dependence of $mu$ on the Kondo-coherence temperature. We discuss our results in terms of local-moment- versus itinerant-type magnetism and mean-field theory, and show that Ce$_{1-x}$La$_{x}$Cu$_{2}$Ge$_{2}$ provides an exceptional opportunity to quantitatively study competing magnetic interactions in a Kondo lattice.
Studies of superconductivity in multiband correlated electronic systems has become one of the central topics in condensed matter/materials physics. In this paper, we present the results of thermodynamic measurements on the superconducting filled skut terudite system Pr$_{1-x}$Ce$_x$Pt$_4$Ge$_{12}$ ($ 0 leq x leq 0.2$) to investigate how substitution of Ce at Pr sites affects superconductivity. We find that an increase in Ce concentration leads to a suppression of the superconducting transition temperature from $T_{c}sim 7.9$ K for $x=0$ to $T_csim 0.6$ K for $x=0.14$. Our analysis of the specific heat data for $xleq 0.07$ reveals that superconductivity must develop in at least two bands: the superconducting order parameter has nodes on one Fermi pocket and remains fully gapped on the other. Both the nodal and nodeless gap values decrease, with the nodal gap being suppressed more strongly, with Ce substitution. Ultimately, the higher Ce concentration samples ($x>0.07$) display a nodeless gap only.
We investigated the onset of the many-body coherence in the f-orbital single crystalline alloys Ce(1-x)Yb(x)CoIn5 through thermodynamic and magneto-transport measurements. Our study shows the evolution of the many-body electronic state as the Kondo l attice of Ce moments is transformed into an array of Ce impurities. Specifically, we observe a smooth crossover from the predominantly localized Ce moment regime to the predominantly itinerant Yb f-electronic states regime for about 50% of Yb doping. Our analysis of the residual resistivity data unveils the presence of correlations between Yb ions, while from our analysis of specific heat data we conclude that for 0.65<x<0.775, ytterbium f-electrons strongly interact with the conduction electrons while the Ce moments remain completely decoupled. The sub-linear temperature dependence of resistivity across the whole range of Yb concentrations suggest the presence of a nontrivial scattering mechanism for the conduction electrons.
The results of magnetic susceptibility, electrical resistivity (rho), and heat capacity measurements as a function of temperature are reported for the alloys, Ce2Rh(1-x)Co(x)Si3, crystallizing in an AlB2-derived hexagonal strcture. Ce2RhSi3 exhibits antiferromagnetic ordering at 7 K. The Neel temperature decreases gradually with the increase in Co concentration. For x greater than 0.6, no magnetic ordering is observed down to 0.5 K. Interestingly, the x= 0.6 alloy exhibits signatutes of non-Fermi liquid behavior, while the Co end member is a Fermi liquid. Thus, a transformation of magnetic ordering state to non-magnetism via non-Fermiliquid state by isoelectronic chemical doping is evident in this solid solution. The electrical resistivity data for x= 0.2 and 0.3 alloys show an upturn at respective Neel temperatures, establishing the formation of a magnetism-induced pseudo-gap for these intermediate compositions alone as though there is a gradual Fermi surface transformation as the quantum critical point is approached.

The electrical resistance of CeFeAsO$_{1-x}$F$_x$ (x = 0.06 and 0.08) has been measured in a magnetic field up to 40T. At zero field, the sample with x = 0.06 shows a structural phase transition around T$_S$~100K, followed by a spin-density-wave (SDW ) transition around T$_{SDW}$~30K. For x = 0.08, the structural phase transition is suppressed down to T$_S$~60K without a clear anomaly associated with the Fe-SDW transition, and superconductivity shows up at T$_C$~25K. At lower temperatures, both samples show a clear resistive peak around T$_N$~4K, which is associated with the antiferromagnetic (AFM) transition of Ce-4f electrons. Strikingly, zero resistance is recovered upon further lowering temperature below T$_N$ for x = 0.08. Moreover, we found that the AFM transition of Ce 4f-electrons at 4K hardly changes with applying a magnetic field up to 40T, even in the case of x = 0.08, where superconductivity has been partially suppressed at such a large field.
