In this paper we show that Quiescent Cosmology [1, 2, 3] is consistent with Penroses Weyl Curvature Hypothesis and the notion of gravitational entropy [4]. Gravitational entropy, from a conceptual point of view, acts in an opposite fashion to the more familiar notion of entropy. A closed system of gravitating particles will coalesce whereas a collection of gas particles will tend to diffuse; regarding increasing entropy, these two scenarios are identical. What has been shown previously [2, 3] is that gravitational entropy at the initial singularity predicted by Quiescent Cosmology - the Isotropic Past Singularity (IPS) - tends to zero. The results from this paper show that not only is this the case but that gravitational entropy increases as this singularity evolves. In the first section of this paper we present relevant background information and motivation. In the second section of this paper we present the main results of this paper. Our third section contains a discussion of how this result will inspire future research before we make concluding remarks in our final section.

We investigate the cosmological applications of new gravitational scalar-tensor theories, which are novel modifications of gravity possessing 2+2 propagating degrees of freedom, arising from a Lagrangian that includes the Ricci scalar and its first a nd second derivatives. Extracting the field equations we obtain an effective dark energy sector that consists of both extra scalar degrees of freedom, and we determine various observables. We analyze two specific models and we obtain a cosmological behavior in agreement with observations, i.e. transition from matter to dark energy era, with the onset of cosmic acceleration. Additionally, for a particular range of the model parameters, the equation-of-state parameter of the effective dark energy sector can exhibit the phantom-divide crossing. These features reveal the capabilities of these theories, since they arise solely from the novel, higher-derivative terms.

In this paper the scalar-tensor theory of gravity is assumed to describe the evolution of the universe and the gravitational scalar $phi$ is ascribed to play the role of inflaton. The theory is characterized by the specified coupling function $omega( phi)$ and the cosmological function $lambda(phi)$. The function $lambda(phi)$ is nearly constant for $0<phi<0.1$ and $lambda(1)=0$. The functions $lambda(phi)$ and $omega(phi)$ provide a double-well potential for the motion of $phi(t)$. Inflation commences and ends naturally by the dynamics of the scalar field. The energy density of matter increases steadily during inflation. When the constant $Gamma$ in the action is determined by the present matter density, the temperature at the end of inflation is of the order of $10^{14} GeV$ in no need of reheating. Furthermore, the gravitational scalar is just the cold dark matter that men seek for.
We study the bounce and cyclicity realization in the framework of new gravitational scalar-tensor theories. In these theories the Lagrangian contains the Ricci scalar and its first and second derivatives, in a specific combination that makes them fre e of ghosts, and transformed into the Einstein frame they are proved to be a subclass of bi-scalar extensions of general relativity. We present analytical expressions for the bounce requirements, and we examine the necessary qualitative behavior of the involved functions that can give rise to a given scale factor. Having in mind these qualitative forms, we reverse the procedure and we construct suitable simple Lagrangian functions that can give rise to a bounce or cyclic scale factor.
The scalar induced gravitational waves (SIGWs) is a useful tool to probe the physics in the early universe. To study inflationary models with this tool, we need to know how the waveform of SIGWs is related to the shape of the scalar power spectrum. W e propose two parameterizations to approximate the scalar power spectrum with either a sharp or a broad spike at small scales, and then use these two parameterizations to study the relation between the shapes of $Omega_{GW}$ and the scalar power spectrum. We find that the waveform of SIGWs has a similar shape to the power spectrum. Away from the peak of the spike, the frequency relation $Omega_{GW}(k)sim mathcal{P}_zeta^2(k)$ holds independent of the functional form of the scalar power spectrum. We also give a physical explanation for this general relationship. The general relation is useful for determining the scalar power spectrum and probing inflationary physics with the waveform of SIGWs.
Classical chaos is often characterized as exponential divergence of nearby trajectories. In many interesting cases these trajectories can be identified with geodesic curves. We define here the entropy by $S = ln chi (x)$ with $chi(x)$ being the dista nce between two nearby geodesics. We derive an equation for the entropy which by transformation to a Ricatti-type equation becomes similar to the Jacobi equation. We further show that the geodesic equation for a null geodesic in a double warped space time leads to the same entropy equation. By applying a Robertson-Walker metric for a flat three-dimensional Euclidian space expanding as a function of time, we again reach the entropy equation stressing the connection between the chosen entropy measure and time. We finally turn to the Raychaudhuri equation for expansion, which also is a Ricatti equation similar to the transformed entropy equation. Those Ricatti-type equations have solutions of the same form as the Jacobi equation. The Raychaudhuri equation can be transformed to a harmonic oscillator equation, and it has been shown that the geodesic deviation equation of Jacobi is essentially equivalent to that of a harmonic oscillator. The Raychaudhuri equations are strong geometrical tools in the study of General Relativity and Cosmology. We suggest a refined entropy measure applicable in Cosmology and defined by the average deviation of the geodesics in a congruence.
