In the article Limits on possible new nucleon monopole-dipole interactions from the spin relaxation rate of polarized $^3$He gas, new limits on short-range, Axion-like interactions are presented. In this comment it is shown that the theoretical treatement of the data overestimates the sensitivity of the proposed method. We provide the corrected limits.

We have constrained possible new interactions which produce nonrelativistic potentials between polarized neutrons and unpolarized matter proportional to $alphavec{sigma}cdotvec{v}$ where $vec{sigma}$ is the neutron spin and $vec{v}$ is the relative v elocity. We use existing data from laboratory measurements on the very long $T_{1}$ and $T_{2}$ spin relaxation times of polarized $^{3}$He gas in glass cells.Using the best available measured $T_{2}$ of polarized $^{3}$He gas atoms as the polarized source and the earth as an unpolarized source, we obtain constraints on two new interactions. We present a new experimental upper bound on possible vector-axial-vector($V_{VA}$) type interactions for ranges between $1sim10^{8}$m. In combination with previous results, we set the most stringent experiment limits on $g_{V}g_{A}$ ranging from $simmu$m to $sim10^{8}$m. We also report what is to our knowledge the first experimental upper limit on the possible torsion fields induced by the earth on its surface. Dedicated experiments could further improve these bounds by a factor of $sim100$. Our method of analysis also makes it possible to probe many velocity dependent interactions which depend on the spins of both neutrons and other particles which have never been searched for before experimentally.
Very light particles with CP-violating couplings to ordinary matter, such as axions or axion-like particles, can mediate long-range forces between polarized and unpolarized fermions. We describe a new experimental search for such forces between unpol arized nucleons in two 250 kg Pb weights and polarized neutrons and electrons in a $^3$He-K co-magnetometer located about 15 cm away. We place improved constrains on the products of scalar and pseudoscalar coupling constants, $g^n_p g^N_s < 4.2times10^{-30}$ and $g^e_p g^N_s < 1.7times10^{-30}$ (95% CL) for axion-like particle masses less than $10^{-6}$ eV, which represents an order of magnitude improvement over the best previous neutron laboratory limit.
We report the results of a new search for long range spin-dependent interactions using a Rb -$^{21}$Ne atomic comagnetometer and a rotatable electron spin source based on a SmCo$_{5}$ magnet with an iron flux return. By looking for signal correlation s with the orientation of the spin source we set new constrains on the product of the pseudoscalar electron and neutron couplings $g^e_p g^n_p/hbar c<1.7times10^{-14}$ and on the product of their axial couplings $g^e_A g^n_A/hbar c<5times10^{-42}$ to a new particle with a mass of less than about $1~mu$eV. Our measurements improve by about 2 orders of magnitude previous constraints on such spin-dependent interactions.
We derive the nucleon-nucleon interaction from the Skyrme model using second order perturbation theory and the dipole approximation to skyrmion dynamics. Unlike previous derivations, our derivation accounts for the non-trivial kinetic and potential p arts of the skyrmion-skyrmion interaction lagrangian and how they couple in the quantum calculation. We derive the eight low energy interaction potentials and compare them with the phenomenological Paris model, finding qualitative agreement in seven cases.

Spin-spin relaxation time ($T_2$) and magnetic susceptibility ($chi$) of the second layer $^3$He adsorbed on Grafoil, exfoliated graphite, preplated with a monolayer $^4$He are studied by pulsed-NMR in a density range of $0.68 leq rho leq 5.28$ nm$^{ -2}$. The temperature dependence of $chi(T)$ and $chi(T = 0)$ show Fermi fluid behaviour and no evidence of self-condensation are found even at the lowest density $rho = 0.68$ nm$^{-2}$. Density dependence of $T_2$ at $f = 5.5$ MHz shows a broad maximum of 5.7 ms around $rho = 3$ nm$^{-2}$. Since the decrease of $T_2$ in dilute side can not be expected in the ideal 2D fluid, it can be understood as the relaxation caused by a small amount of solid $^3$He at heterogeneity of the substrate. We also measured the Larmor frequency dependence of $T_2$ at $rho = 5.28$ nm$^{-2}$. $1/T_2$ has a $f$-linear dependence similarly to the earlier study on a first layer solid $^3$He. From a comparison between our result and the earlier one, this linearity is almost independent of the particle motion. Now, it could be caused by a microscopic magnetic field inhomogeneity arisen from the mosaic angle spread and diamagnetism of the graphite substrate.
