The scattering length and effective range of the piSigma channel are studied in order to characterize the strangeness S=-1 meson-baryon scattering and the Lambda(1405) resonance. We examine various off-shell dependence of the amplitude in dynamical chiral models to evaluate the threshold quantities with the constraint at the KbarN threshold. We find that the piSigma threshold parameters are important to the structure of the Lambda(1405) resonance and provide further constraints on the subthreshold extrapolation of the KbarN interaction.

The pole structure of the $Lambda(1405)$ is examined by fitting the couplings of an underlying Hamiltonian effective field theory to cross sections of $K^- p$ scattering in the infinite-volume limit. Finite-volume spectra are then obtained from the t heory, and compared to lattice QCD results for the mass of the $Lambda(1405)$. Momentum-dependent, non-separable potentials motivated by the well-known Weinberg-Tomozawa terms are used, with SU(3) flavour symmetry broken in the couplings and masses. In addition, we examine the effect on the behaviour of the spectra from the inclusion of a bare triquark-like isospin-zero basis state. It is found that the cross sections are consistent with the experimental data with two complex poles for the $Lambda(1405)$, regardless of whether a bare baryon basis state is introduced or not. However, it is apparent that the bare baryon is important for describing the results of lattice QCD at high pion masses.
The internal structure of the resonant Lambda(1405) state is investigated based on meson-baryon coupled-channels chiral dynamics. We evaluate Lambda(1405) form factors which are extracted from current-coupled scattering amplitudes in meson-baryon deg rees of freedom. Using several probe currents and channel decomposition, we find that the resonant Lambda(1405) state is dominantly composed of widely spread Kbar around N, with escaping pi Sigma component.

We investigate the photoproduction of $K^*$ vector meson for the study of the $Lambda(1405)$ resonance. The invariant mass distribution of $piSigma$ shows a different shape from the nominal one, peaking at 1420 MeV. This is considered as a consequenc e of the double pole structure of $Lambda(1405)$, predicted in the chiral unitary model. Combined with other reactions, such as $pi^- p to K^0 piSigma$, experimental confirmation of this fact will reveal a novel structure of the $Lambda(1405)$ state.
We study the behavior with the number of colors (Nc) of the two poles associated to the Lambda(1405) resonance obtained dynamically within the chiral unitary approach. The leading order chiral meson-baryon interaction manifests a nontrivial Nc depend ence for SU(3) baryons, which gives a finite attractive interaction in some channels in the large Nc limit. As a consequence, the SU(3) singlet (Kbar N) component of the Lambda(1405) survives in the large Nc limit as a bound state, while the other components dissolve into the continuum. The Nc dependence of the decay widths shows different behavior from the general counting rule for a qqq state, indicating the dynamical origin of the two poles for the Lambda(1405) resonance.

The photo-induced $K^*$ vector meson production is investigated for the study of the $Lambda(1405)$ resonance. This reaction is particularly suited to the isolation of the second pole in the $Lambda(1405)$ region which couples dominantly to the $bar K N$ channel. We obtain the mass distribution of the $Lambda(1405)$ which peaks at 1420 MeV, and differs from the nominal one. Combined with several other reactions, like the $pi^- p to K^0 pi Sigma$ which favours the first pole, this detailed study will reveal a novel structure of the $Lambda(1405)$ state.
