Modeling of complex phenomena such as the mind presents tremendous computational complexity challenges. Modeling field theory (MFT) addresses these challenges in a non-traditional way. The main idea behind MFT is to match levels of uncertainty of the model (also, problem or theory) with levels of uncertainty of the evaluation criterion used to identify that model. When a model becomes more certain, then the evaluation criterion is adjusted dynamically to match that change to the model. This process is called the Dynamic Logic of Phenomena (DLP) for model construction and it mimics processes of the mind and natural evolution. This paper provides a formal description of DLP by specifying its syntax, semantics, and reasoning system. We also outline links between DLP and other logical approaches. Computational complexity issues that motivate this work are presented using an example of polynomial models.

Numerical simulations of the NLSE (or GPE) are presented demonstrating emission of short pulses of the matter (light) density formed in the course of tunneling in wave-guided light and/or trapped BEC. The phenomenon is observed under various conditio ns, for nonlinearities of different signs, zero nonlinearity included. We study, both numerically and analytically, pulsations of matter (light) remaining within the trap and use the results in order to induce emission of sequential pulses by properly narrowing the trap. This allows us to propose a mechanism for a realization of Atom Pulse Laser.
Grid based fluid simulation methods are not able to monolithically capture complex non-linear dynamics like the rupture of a dynamic liquid bridge between freely colliding solids, an exemplary scenario of capillary forces competing with inertial forc es in engineering applications. We introduce a new Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics method for simulating three dimensional fluid-solid interaction flows with capillary (wetting and surface tension) effects at free surfaces. This meshless approach presents significant advantages over grid based approaches in terms of being monolithic and in handling interaction with free solids. The method is validated for accuracy and stability in dynamic scenarios involving surface tension and wetting. We then present three dimensional simulations of crown forming instability following the splash of a liquid drop, and the rupture of a liquid bridge between two colliding solid spheres, to show the methods advantages in the study of dynamic micromechanical phenomena involving capillary flows.
This article gives a short description of pattern formation and coarsening phenomena and focuses on recent experimental and theoretical advances in these fields. It serves as an introduction to phase ordering kinetics and it will appear in the specia l issue `Coarsening dynamics, Comptes Rendus de Physique, edited by F. Corberi and P. Politi.
We study the critical dynamics of hyper-cubic finite size system in the presence of quenched short-range correlated disorder. By using the random $T_c$ model A for the critical dynamics and the renormalization group method in the vicinity of the uppe r critical dimension $d=4$, we derive in first order of $epsilon$ the expression for the relaxation time. Its finite-size scaling behavior is discussed both analytically and numerically in details. This was made possible by analyzing carefully the finite--size effects on the Onsager kinetic coefficient. The obtained results are compared to those reported in the literature.

Recent results on hard diffraction at HERA and the Tevatron are presented. Charged particle multiplicities in diffraction and differences in multiplicity in quark and gluon jets measured at LEP are discussed. Spin effects in the fragmentation of leading quarks show some interesting features.
