We have dramatically extended the zero field susceptibility series at both high and low temperature of the Ising model on the triangular and honeycomb lattices, and used these data and newly available further terms for the square lattice to calculate a number of terms in the scaling function expansion around both the ferromagnetic and, for the square and honeycomb lattices, the antiferromagnetic critical point.

Based on the results published recently [SciPost Phys. 7, 026 (2019)], the influence of surfaces and boundary fields are calculated for the ferromagnetic anisotropic square lattice Ising model on finite lattices as well as in the finite-size scaling limit. Starting with the open cylinder, we independently apply boundary fields on both sides which can be either homogeneous or staggered, representing different combinations of boundary conditions. We confirm several predictions from scaling theory, conformal field theory and renormalisation group theory: we explicitly show that anisotropic couplings enter the scaling functions through a generalised aspect ratio, and demonstrate that open and staggered boundary conditions are asymptotically equal in the scaling regime. Furthermore, we examine the emergence of the surface tension due to one antiperiodic boundary in the system in the presence of symmetry breaking boundary fields, again for finite systems as well as in the scaling limit. Finally, we extend our results to the antiferromagnetic Ising model.
We present a systematic method to calculate the universal scaling functions for the critical Casimir force and the according potential of the two-dimensional Ising model with various boundary conditions. Therefore we start with the dimer representati on of the corresponding partition function $Z$ on an $Ltimes M$ square lattice, wrapped around a torus with aspect ratio $rho=L/M$. By assuming periodic boundary conditions and translational invariance in at least one direction, we systematically reduce the problem to a $2times2$ transfer matrix representation. For the torus we first reproduce the results by Kaufman and then give a detailed calculation of the scaling functions. Afterwards we present the calculation for the cylinder with open boundary conditions. All scaling functions are given in form of combinations of infinite products and integrals. Our results reproduce the known scaling functions in the limit of thin films $rhoto 0$. Additionally, for the cylinder at criticality our results confirm the predictions from conformal field theory.
We have made substantial advances in elucidating the properties of the susceptibility of the square lattice Ising model. We discuss its analyticity properties, certain closed form expressions for subsets of the coefficients, and give an algorithm of complexity O(N^6) to determine its first N coefficients. As a result, we have generated and analyzed series with more than 300 terms in both the high- and low-temperature regime. We quantify the effect of irrelevant variables to the scaling-amplitude functions. In particular, we find and quantify the breakdown of simple scaling, in the absence of irrelevant scaling fields, arising first at order |T-T_c|^{9/4}, though high-low temperature symmetry is still preserved. At terms of order |T-T_c|^{17/4} and beyond, this symmetry is no longer present. The short-distance terms are shown to have the form (T-T_c)^p(log|T-T_c|)^q with p ge q^2. Conjectured exact expressions for some correlation functions and series coefficients in terms of elliptic theta functions also foreshadow future developments.
We study the fidelity susceptibility in the two-dimensional(2D) transverse field Ising model and the 2D XXZ model numerically. It is found that in both models, the fidelity susceptibility as a function of the driving parameter diverges at the critica l points. The validity of the fidelity susceptibility to signal for the quantum phase transition is thus verified in these two models. We also compare the scaling behavior of the extremum of the fidelity susceptibility to that of the second derivative of the ground state energy. From those results, the theoretical argument that fidelity susceptibility is a more sensitive seeker for a second order quantum phase transition is also testified in the two models.

The influence of a layered aperiodic modulation of the couplings on the critical behaviour of the two-dimensional Ising model is studied in the case of marginal perturbations. The aperiodicity is found to induce anisotropic scaling. The anisotropy ex ponent z, given by the sum of the surface magnetization scaling dimensions, depends continuously on the modulation amplitude. Thus these systems are scale invariant but not conformally invariant at the critical point.
