We investigate the thermodynamic properties of a toy model of glasses: a hard-core lattice gas with nearest neighbor interaction in one dimension. The time-evolution is Markovian, with nearest-neighbor and next-nearest neighbor hoppings, and the transition rates are assumed to satisfy detailed balance condition, but the system is non-ergodic below a glass temperature. Below this temperature, the system is in restricted thermal equilibrium, where both the number of sectors, and the number of accessible states within a sector grow exponentially with the size of the system. Using partition functions that sum only over dynamically accessible states within a sector, and then taking a quenched average over the sectors, we determine the exact equation of state of this system.

Aiming at studying the emergence of Non-Equilibrium Steady States (NESS) in quantum integrable models by means of an exact analytical method, we focus on the Tonks-Girardeau or hard-core boson limit of the Lieb-Liniger model. We consider the abrupt e xpansion of a gas from one half to the entire confining box, a prototypical case of inhomogeneous quench, also known as geometric quench. Based on the exact calculation of quench overlaps, we develop an analytical method for the derivation of the NESS by rigorously treating the thermodynamic and large time and distance limit. Our method is based on complex analysis tools for the derivation of the asymptotics of the many-body wavefunction, does not make essential use of the effectively non-interacting character of the hard-core boson gas and is sufficiently robust for generalisation to the genuinely interacting case.

The exact nonequilibrium steady state solution of the nonlinear Boltzmann equation for a driven inelastic Maxwell model was obtained by Ben-Naim and Krapivsky [Phys. Rev. E 61, R5 (2000)] in the form of an infinite product for the Fourier transform o f the distribution function $f(c)$. In this paper we have inverted the Fourier transform to express $f(c)$ in the form of an infinite series of exponentially decaying terms. The dominant high energy tail is exponential, $f(c)simeq A_0exp(-a|c|)$, where $aequiv 2/sqrt{1-alpha^2}$ and the amplitude $A_0$ is given in terms of a converging sum. This is explicitly shown in the totally inelastic limit ($alphato 0$) and in the quasi-elastic limit ($alphato 1$). In the latter case, the distribution is dominated by a Maxwellian for a very wide range of velocities, but a crossover from a Maxwellian to an exponential high energy tail exists for velocities $|c-c_0|sim 1/sqrt{q}$ around a crossover velocity $c_0simeq ln q^{-1}/sqrt{q}$, where $qequiv (1-alpha)/2ll 1$. In this crossover region the distribution function is extremely small, $ln f(c_0)simeq q^{-1}ln q$.
We introduce a model of interacting lattices at different resolutions driven by the two-dimensional Ising dynamics with a nearest-neighbor interaction. We study this model both with tools borrowed from equilibrium statistical mechanics as well as non -equilibrium thermodynamics. Our findings show that this model keeps the signature of the equilibrium phase transition. Moreover the critical temperature of the equilibrium models correspond to the state maximizing the entropy and delimits two out-of-equilibrium regimes, one satisfying the Onsager relations for systems close to equilibrium and one resembling convective turbulent states. Since the model preserves the entropy and energy fluxes in the scale space, it seems a good candidate for parametric studies of out-of-equilibrium turbulent systems.

We obtain exact results on autocorrelation of the order parameter in the nonequilibrium stationary state of a paradigmatic model of spontaneous collective synchronization, the Kuramoto model of coupled oscillators, evolving in presence of Gaussian, w hite noise. The method relies on an exact mapping of the stationary-state dynamics of the model in the thermodynamic limit to the noisy dynamics of a single, non-uniform oscillator, and allows to obtain besides the Kuramoto model the autocorrelation in the equilibrium stationary state of a related model of long-range interactions, the Brownian mean-field model. Both the models show a phase transition between a synchronized and an incoherent phase at a critical value of the noise strength. Our results indicate that in the two phases as well as at the critical point, the autocorrelation for both the model decays as an exponential with a rate that increases continuously with the noise strength.
Reassessment of the critical temperature and density of the restricted primitive model of an ionic fluid by Monte Carlo simulations performed for system sizes with linear dimension up to $L/sigma=34$ and sampling of $sim 10^9$ trial moves leads to $T ^*_c=0.04917 pm 0.00002$ and $rho_c^* =0.080 pm 0.005$. Finite size scaling analysis based in the Bruce-Wilding procedure gives critical exponents in agreement with those of the 3d Ising universality class. An analysis similar to that proposed by Orkoulas et al [Phys. Rev. E 63, 051507 (2001)], not relying on an a priori knowledge of the universality class, leads to an unaccurate estimate of $T_c^*$ and to unexpected behavior of the specific heat and value of the critical exponent ratio $gamma/ u$.
