We study how leptogenesis can be implemented in a seesaw model with $S_4$ flavor symmetry, which leads to the neutrino tri-bimaximal mixing matrix and degenerate right-handed (RH) neutrino spectrum. Introducing a tiny soft $S_4$ symmetry breaking term in the RH neutrino mass matrix, we show that the flavored resonant leptogenesis can be successfully realized, which can lower the seesaw scale much so as to make it possible to probe in colliders. Even though such a tiny soft breaking term is essential for leptogenesis, it does not significantly affect the low energy observables. We also investigate how the effective light neutrino mass $|<m_{ee}> |$ associated with neutrinoless double beta decay can be predicted along with the neutrino mass hierarchies by imposing experimental data of low-energy observables. We find a direct link between leptogenesis and neutrinoless double beta decay characterized by $|<m_{ee}>|$ through a high energy CP phase $phi$, which is correlated with low energy Majorana CP phases. It is shown that our predictions of $|<m_{ee}>|$ for some fixed parameters of high energy physics can be constrained by the current observation of baryon asymmetry.

From the standard seesaw mechanism of neutrino mass generation, which is based on the assumption that the lepton number is violated at a large (~10exp(+15) GeV) scale, follows that the neutrinoless double-beta decay is ruled by the Majorana neutrino mass mechanism. Within this notion, for the inverted neutrino-mass hierarchy we derive allowed ranges of half-lives of the neutrinoless double-beta decay for nuclei of experimental interest with different sets of nuclear matrix elements. The present-day results of the calculation of the neutrinoless double-beta decay nuclear matrix elements are briefly discussed. We argue that if neutrinoless double-beta decay will be observed in future experiments sensitive to the effective Majorana mass in the inverted mass hierarchy region, a comparison of the derived ranges with measured half-lives will allow us to probe the standard seesaw mechanism assuming that future cosmological data will establish the sum of neutrino masses to be about 0.2 eV.

By requiring the lower limit for the lightest right-handed neutrino mass, obtained in the baryogenesis from leptogenesis scenario, and a Dirac neutrino mass matrix similar to the up-quark mass matrix we predict small values for the $ u_e$ mass and fo r the matrix element $m_{ee}$ responsible of the neutrinoless double beta decay, $m_{ u_e}$ around $5cdot10^{-3}$ eV and $m_{ee}$ smaller than $ 10^{-3}$ eV, respectively. The allowed range for the mass of the heaviest right-handed neutrino is centered around the value of the scale of B - L breaking in the SO(10) gauge theory with Pati-Salam intermediate symmetry.
We present a detailed discussion on neutrinoless double beta decay within a class of left-right symmetric models where neutrino mass originates by natural type-II seesaw dominance. The spontaneous symmetry breaking is implemented with doublets, tripl ets and bidoublet scalars. The fermion sector is extended with an extra sterile neutrino per generation that helps in implementing the seesaw mechanism. The presence of extra particles in the model exactly cancels type-I seesaw and allows large value for Dirac neutrino mass matrix $M_D$. The key feature of this work is that all the physical masses and mixing are expressed in terms of neutrino oscillation parameters and lightest neutrino mass thereby facilitating to constrain light neutrino masses from $0 ubetabeta$ decay. With this large value of $M_D$ new contributions arise due to; i) purely left-handed current via exchange of heavy right-handed neutrinos as well as sterile neutrinos, ii) the so called $lambda$ and $eta$ diagrams. New physics contributions also arise from right-handed currents with right-handed gauge boson $W_R$ mass around $3$~TeV. From the numerical study, we find that the new contributions to $0 ubetabeta$ decay not only saturate the current experimental bound but also give lower limit on absolute scale of lightest neutrino mass and favor NH pattern of light neutrino mass hierarchy.
Study of the neutrinoless double beta decay and searches for the manifestation of the neutrino mass in ordinary beta decay are the main sources of information about the absolute neutrino mass scale, and the only practical source of information about the charge conjugation properties of the neutrinos. Thus, these studies have a unique role in the plans for better understanding of the whole fast expanding field of neutrino physics.
We examine the prospects of detecting an analogous process of neutrinoless double beta decay at a neutrino factory from a high energy muon storage ring. Limits from LEP experiments, neutrinoless double beta decay as well as from global fits have to b e incorporated and severely restrict the results. We investigate what limits on light and heavy effective Majorana neutrino masses can be obtained and compare them with existing ones. Discussed are also contributions from right-handed neutrinos and purely right-handed interactions. Other ``new physics contributions to the same final state might produce large event numbers.
