During the last few decades scientists have been able to test the bases of the physics paradigms, where the quantum mechanics has to match the cosmological scales. Between the extremes of this scenario, biological phenomena and their complexity take place, challenging the laws we observe in the atomic and sub-atomic world. In order to explore the details of this world, new huge experimental facilities are under construction. These projects involve people coming from several countries and give physicists the opportunity to work together with chemists, biologists and other scientists. The Roman Young Researchers Meeting is a conference, organised by Ph. D. students and young postdocs connected to the Roman area. It is aimed primarily at graduate students and post-docs, working in physics. The 1st conference has been held on the 21st of July 2009 at the University of Roma Tor Vergata. It was organised in three sessions, devoted to Astrophysics and Cosmology, Soft and Condensed Matter Physics and Theoretical and Particle Physics. In this proceeding we collect the contributions which have been presented and discussed during the meeting, according to the specific topics treated.

This volume contains the proceedings of the first workshop on Advances in Systems of Systems (AISOS13), held in Roma, Italy, March 16. System-of-Systems describes the large scale integration of many independent self-contained systems to satisfy globa l needs or multi-system requests. Examples are smart grid, intelligent buildings, smart cities, transport systems, etc. There is a need for new modeling formalisms, analysis methods and tools to help make trade-off decisions during design and evolution avoiding leading to sub-optimal design and rework during integration and in service. The workshop should focus on the modeling and analysis of System of Systems. AISOS13 aims to gather people from different communities in order to encourage exchange of methods and views.
This volume contains most of the links to the presentations delivered at this international workshop. This meeting was the second in the series following the previous I Encuentro Iberico de Compstar, held at the University of Coimbra, Portugal in 201 0. The main purpose of this meeting was to strengthen the scientific collaboration between the participants of the Iberian and the rest of the southern European branches of the European Nuclear Astrophysics network, formerly, COMPSTAR. This ESF (European Science Foundation) supported network has been crucial in helping to make a broader audience for the the most interesting and relevant research lines being developed currently in Nuclear Astrophysics, especially related to the physics of neutron stars. The program of the meeting was tailored to theoretical descriptions of the physics of neutron stars although some input from experimental observers and other condensed matter and optics areas of interest was also included.
Workshop RPSCINT2008 was organized in Kyiv (Ukraine) on 9th and 10th September 2008. The idea was to bring together physicists, chemists, crystal scintillator experts and manufacturers to discuss the requirements of low-count rate experiments, in par ticular the required radiopurity and scintillation properties; selection and screening of input materials; purification of materials; raw compound preparation; crystal growing, annealing and handling; test of crystals; search for and development of new scintillating materials. Some contributions to the RPSCINT 2008 workshop are presented in these proceedings.

We present some back-of-the-envelope calculations to try to understand cold dark matter, its searches, and extensions of the Standard Model. Some of the insights obtained from this exercise may be useful.
This booklet contains a collection of contributions to the meeting of the JEts and Disks at INAF (JEDI) group, which took place at the Capodimonte Observatory during 9-10 April 2015. Scope of the meeting was to bring together the JEDI researchers of the Italian Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF) working in the field of circumstellar disks and jets in young stars, to discuss together the different agents affecting the structure and the evolution of disks, namely accretion, jets and winds.
