We propose a new class of R-parity violating extension of MSSM with type II seesaw mechanism for neutrino masses where an unstable gravitino is the dark matter of the Universe. It decays predominantly into three leptons final states, thereby providing a natural explanation of the positron excess but no antiproton excess in the PAMELA experiment. The model can explain neutrino masses without invoking any high scale physics while keeping the pre-existing baryon asymmetry of the universe in tact.

We study the possibility of improving the constraints on the lifetime of gravitino dark matter in scenarios with bilinear R-parity violation by estimating the amount of cosmic-ray antideuterons that can be produced in gravitino decays. Taking into ac count all different sources of theoretical uncertainties, we find that the margin of improvement beyond the limits already set by cosmic-ray antiproton data are quite narrow and unachievable for the next generation of experiments. However, we also identify more promising energy ranges for future experiments.

The gravitino is a promising supersymmetric dark matter candidate, even without strict R-parity conservation. In fact, with some small R-parity violation, gravitinos are sufficiently long-lived to constitute the dark matter of the universe, while the resulting cosmological scenario is consistent with primordial nucleosynthesis and the high reheating temperature needed for thermal leptogenesis. Furthermore, in this scenario the gravitino is unstable and might thus be accessible by indirect detection via its decay products. We compute in this thesis the partial decay widths for the gravitino in models with bilinear R-parity breaking. In addition, we determine the neutrino signal from astrophysical gravitino dark matter decays. Finally, we discuss the feasibility of detecting these neutrino signals in present and future neutrino experiments, and conclude that it will be a challenging task. Albeit, if detected, this distinctive signal might bring considerable support to the scenario of decaying gravitino dark matter.

An unstable gravitino with lifetime longer than $10^{26}$ sec or so has been proposed as a possible dark matter candidate in supergravity models with R-parity breaking. We find a natural realization of this idea in the minimal supersymmetric left-rig ht models where left-right symmetry breaking scale in the few TeV range. It is known that in these models, R-parity must break in order to have parity breaking as required by low energy weak interactions. The sub-eV neutrino masses imply that R-parity breaking effects in this model must be highly suppressed. This in turn makes the gravitino LSP long lived enough, so that it becomes the dark matter of the Universe. It also allows detectable displaced vertices at the LHC from NLSP decays. We present a detailed analysis of the model and some aspects of its rich phenomenology.
We consider indirect detection of meta-stable dark matter particles decaying into a stable neutral particle and a pair of standard model fermions. Due to the softer energy spectra from the three-body decay, such models could potentially explain the A MS-02 positron excess without being constrained by the Fermi-LAT gamma-ray data and the cosmic ray anti-proton measurements. We scrutinize over different final state fermions, paying special attention to handling of the cosmic ray background and including various contributions from cosmic ray propagation with the help of the textsc{LikeDM} package. It is found that primary decays into an electron-positron pair and a stable neutral particle could give rise to the AMS-02 positron excess and, at the same time, stay unscathed against the gamma-ray and anti-proton constraints. Decays to a muon pair or a mixed flavor electron-muon pair may also be viable depending on the propagation models. Decays to all other standard model fermions are severely disfavored.
We derive 95% CL lower limits on the lifetime of decaying dark matter in the channels $Z u$, $Well$ and $h u$ using measurements of the cosmic-ray antiproton flux by the PAMELA experiment. Performing a scan over the allowed range of cosmic-ray propag ation parameters we find lifetime limits in the range of $8 times 10^{28}$s to $5 times 10^{25}$s for dark matter masses from roughly 100 GeV to 10 TeV. We apply these limits to the well-motivated case of gravitino dark matter in scenarios with bilinear violation of R-parity and find a similar range of lifetime limits for the same range of gravitino masses. Converting the lifetime limits to constraints on the size of the R-parity violating coupling we find upper limits in the range of $10^{-8}$ to $8 times 10^{-13}$.
