The present work proposes a discussion on the self-energy of charged particles in the framework of nonlinear electrodynamics. We seek magnet- ically stable solutions generated by purely electric charges whose electric and magnetic fields are computed as solutions to the Born-Infeld equa- tions. The approach yields rich internal structures that can be described in terms of the physical fields with explicit analytic solutions. This suggests that the anomalous field probably originates from a magnetic excitation in the vacuum due to the presence of the very intense electric field. In addition, the magnetic contribution has been found to exert a negative pressure on the charge. This, in turn, balances the electric repulsion, in such a way that the self-interaction of the field appears as a simple and natural classical mechanism that is able to account for the stability of the electron charge.
Three objections to the canonical analytical treatment of covariant electromagnetic theory are presented: (i) only half of Maxwells equations are present upon variation of the fundamental Lagrangian; (ii) the trace of the canonical energy-momentum te
Electromagnetic fields of a massless charged particle are described by a gauge potential that is almost everywhere pure gauge. Solution of quantum mechanical wave equations in the presence of such fields is therefore immediate and leads to a new deri
We study the model of Einstein-Maxwell theory minimally coupling to a massive charged self-interacting scalar field, parameterized by the quartic and hexic coupling, labelled by $lambda$ and $beta$, respectively. In the absence of scalar field, there
We evaluate self-interaction effects on the quantum correlations of field modes of opposite momenta for scalar $lambda phi^4$ theory in a two-dimensional asymptotically flat Robertson-Walker spacetime. Such correlations are encoded both in the von-Ne
Exact expression is obtained for the differential cross section of elastic electroweak scattering of longitudinal polarized massive Dirac neutrinos with the electric charge and anomalous magnetic moment on a spinless nucleus. This formula contains al
