The dynamics of small perturbations against the stationary density matrix of a pumped polariton system with only one photon polarization is studied. Depending on the way the system is pumped and probed, decay times ranging from 30 to 5000 ps are found. The large decay times under resonant pumping are related to a bottleneck effect in the decay of the excess (probe) populations of dark polariton states. No singular behaviour at the threshold for polariton lasing is observed.

In this paper, classical small perturbations against a stationary solution of the nonlinear Schrodinger equation with the general form of nonlinearity are examined. It is shown that in order to obtain correct (in particular, conserved over time) nonz ero expressions for the basic integrals of motion of a perturbation even in the quadratic order in the expansion parameter, it is necessary to consider nonlinear equations of motion for the perturbations. It is also shown that, despite the nonlinearity of the perturbations, the additivity property is valid for the integrals of motion of different nonlinear modes forming the perturbation (at least up to the second order in the expansion parameter).

The density matrix, rho, of a model polariton system is obtained numerically from a master equation which takes account of pumping and losses. In the stationary limit, the coherences between eigenstates of the Hamiltonian are three orders of magnitud e smaller than the occupations, meaning that the stationary density matrix is approximately diagonal in the energy representation. A weakly distorted grand canonical Gibbs distribution fits well the occupations.

We present a time-resolved study of the logical operation of a polariton condensate transistor switch. Creating a polariton condensate (source) in a GaAs ridge-shaped microcavity with a non-resonant pulsed laser beam, the polariton propagation toward s a collector, at the ridge edge, is controlled by a second weak pulse (gate), located between the source and the collector. The experimental results are interpreted in the light of simulations based on the generalized Gross-Pitaevskii equation, including incoherent pumping, decay and energy relaxation within the condensate.
We propose a novel scheme for coupling a Rydberg state to a stationary light polariton, based on a dual-V level scheme. We investigate the properties of the resulting stationary Rydberg polariton, and show that its form and its quadratic dispersion r elation closely resemble that of the stationary light polariton of the underlying dual-V scheme. We consider the influence of a Rydberg impurity on the system and find strong interaction-induced absorption of the involved probe field. The proposed scheme for a stationary Rydberg polariton might find applications for realizing interacting polaritons with increased interaction time.
We investigate the cross-interactions in a two-component polariton quantum fluid coherently driven by two independent pumping lasers tuned at different energies and momenta. We show that both the hysteresis cycles and the ON/OFF threshold of one pola riton signal can be entirely controlled by a second polariton fluid. Furthermore, we study the ultrafast switching dynamics of a driven polariton state, demonstrating the ability to control the polariton population with an external laser pulse, in less than a few picoseconds.
