We study flavor violation in the quark sector in a purely 4D, two-site effective field theory description of the Standard Model and just their first Kaluza-Klein excitations from a warped extra dimension. The warped 5D framework can provide solutions to both the Planck-weak and flavor hierarchies of the SM. It is also related (via the AdS/CFT correspondence) to partial compositeness of the SM. We focus on the dominant contributions in the two-site model to two observables which we argue provide the strongest flavor constraints, namely, epsilon_K and BR(b -> s gamma), where contributions in the two-site model occur at tree and loop-level, respectively. In particular, we demonstrate that a tension exists between these two observables in the sense that they have opposite dependence on composite site Yukawa couplings, making it difficult to decouple flavor-violating effects using this parameter. We choose the size of the composite site QCD coupling based on the relation of the two-site model to the 5D model (addressing the Planck-weak hierarchy), where we match the 5D QCD coupling to the 4D coupling at the loop-level and assuming negligible tree-level brane-localized kinetic terms. We estimate that a larger size of the 5D gauge coupling is constrained by the requirement of 5D perturbativity. We find that sim O(5) TeV mass scale for the new particles in the two-site model can then be consistent with both observables. We also compare our analysis of epsilon_K in the two-site model to that in 5D models, including both the cases of a brane-localized and bulk Higgs.

We analyze the flavor violation in warped extra dimension due to radion mediation. We show that Delta S=2 and Delta B=2 flavor violating processes impose stringent constraints on radion mass, m_phi and the scale Lambda_phi. In particular, for Lambda_ phi ~ O(1) TeV, B_d^0-bar{B}^0_d implies that m_phi ~ 65 GeV. We also study radion contributions to lepton flavor violating processes: tau -> (e,mu) phi, tau -> emu^+mu^- and B -> l_i l_j. We show that BR(B_s -> mu^+ mu^-) can be of order 10^{-8}, which is reachable at the LHCb. The radion search at LHC, through the flavor violation decays into tau mu or top-charm quarks, is also considered.
We show that new physics models without new flavor violating interactions can explain the recent anomalies in the $bto sell^+ell^-$ transitions. The $bto sell^+ell^-$ arises from a $Z$ penguin which automatically predicts the $V-A$ structure for the quark currents in the effective operators. This framework can be realized either in a renormalizable $U(1)$ setup or be due to new strongly interacting dynamics. The di-muon resonance searches at the LHC are becoming sensitive to this scenario since the $Z$ is relatively light, and could well be discovered in future searches by ATLAS and CMS.

We propose a scenario which accommodates all the masses and mixings of the SM fermions in a model of warped extra-dimensions with all matter fields in the bulk. In this scenario, the same flavor symmetric structure is imposed on all the fermions of t he Standard Model (SM), including neutrinos. Due to the exponential sensitivity on bulk fermion masses, a small breaking of the symmetry can be greatly enhanced and produce seemingly un-symmetric hierarchical masses and small mixing angles among the charged fermion zero-modes (SM quarks and charged leptons) and wash-out the obvious effects of the symmetry. With the Higgs field leaking into the bulk, and Dirac neutrinos sufficiently localized towards the UV boundary, the neutrino mass hierarchy and flavor structure will still be largely dominated by the fundamental flavor structure. The neutrino sector would then reflect the fundamental flavor structure, whereas the quark sector would probe the effects of the flavor symmetry breaking sector. As an example, we explore these features in the context of a family permutation symmetry imposed in both quark and lepton sectors.
We point out that supersymmetric warped geometry can provide a solution to the SUSY flavor problem, while generating hierarchical Yukawa couplings. In supersymmetric theories in a slice of AdS_5 with the Kaluza-Klein scale M_KK much higher than the w eak scale, if all visible fields originate from 5D bulk fields and supersymmetry breaking is mediated by the bulk radion superfield and/or some brane chiral superfields, potentially dangerous soft scalar masses and trilinear $A$ parameters at M_KK can be naturally suppressed compared to the gaugino masses by small warp factor. We present simple models yielding phenomenologically interesting patterns of soft parameters in this framework.
We study the flavor structure in the three site Higgsless model. In this model, the gauge bosons and fermions have heavy partners, coming from the Kaluza-Klein excitation in the dimensional deconstruction picture. The yukawa couplings are introduced in a way to minimize the flavor chaning neutral current in the light sector at the tree level. Due to the flavor mixing between the light and the heavy partner fields, new effects on FCNCs appear at one-loop level. As an example of such FCNC processes, we calculate the contribution to the b -> s gamma amplitude in the three site Higgsless model. Interestingly, heavy particles which exist in the three site Higgsless model do not completely decouple in the heavy-mass limit. One-loop level b -> s gamma amplitude is calculated by considering all possible combinations of particles in the loop, then it is compared to the experiment. The result shows that the central value of the B -> X_s gamma branching ratio in the three site Higgsless model takes closer value to its experimental central value as one takes the larger value of a free parameter, varepsilon_{tR}, within a range allowed by the precision electroweak measurement.
