The confinement mechanism proposed earlier by the author is employed for to compute the decay constants $f_P$ corresponding to leptonic decays $Pto l^pm+ u_l$, $l=mu, e$, where $P$ stands for any meson from $pi^pm$, $K^pm$. For this aim the weak axial form factor of $P$-meson is nonperturbatively calculated. The study entails estimates for parameters of the confining SU(3)-gluonic field in charged pions and kaons. The corresponding estimates of the gluon concentrations, electric and magnetic colour field strengths are also adduced for the mentioned field at the scales of the mesons under consideration. Further the obtained results are applied to the problem of chiral symmetry breaking in quantum chromodynamics (QCD). It is shown that in chirally symmetric world masses of pions and kaons are fully determined by the confining SU(3)-gluonic field among (massless) $u$, $d$ and $s$ quarks and not equal to zero. Accordingly chiral symmetry is sufficiently rough approximate one holding true only when neglecting the mentioned SU(3)-gluonic field between quarks and no additional mechanism of the spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking connected to the so-called Goldstone bosons is required. Finally, a possible relation of the results obtained with a phenomenological string-like picture of confinement is discussed too.

CP asymmetries have been measured recently by the LHCb collaboration in three-body $B^+$ decays to final states involving charged pions and kaons. Large asymmetries with opposite signs at a level of about 60% have been observed in $B^pmto pi^pm({rm o r} K^pm)pi^+pi^-$ and $B^pm to pi^pm K^+K^-$ for restricted regions in the Dalitz plots involving $pi^+pi^-$ and $K^+K^-$ with low invariant mass. U-spin is shown to predict corresponding $Delta S=0$ and $Delta S=1$ asymmetries with opposite signs and inversely proportional to their branching ratios, in analogy with a successful relation predicted thirteen years ago between asymmetries in $B_sto K^-pi^+$ and $B^0 to K^+ pi^-$. We compare these predictions with the measured integrated asymmetries. Effects of specific resonant or non-resonant partial waves on enhanced asymmetries for low-pair-mass regions of the Dalitz plot are studied in $B^pm to pi^pm pi^+pi^-$. The closure of low-mass $pi^+pi^-$ and $K^+K^-$ channels involving only $pipi leftrightarrow Kbar K$ rescattering may explain by CPT approximately equal magnitudes and opposite signs measured in $B^pmto pi^pmpi^+pi^-$ and $B^pm to pi^pm K^+K^-$.
Assuming the ${bar D}^0, D^-, D^-_s$ and $B^+, B^0, B_s^0$ mesons belong to triplets of SU(3) flavor symmetry, we analyse the form factors in the semileptonic decays of these mesons. Both quark and meson mass differences are taken into account. We fi nd a number of relations, in agreement with the present data as well as with previous analyses, and predict certain ratios of form factors, not yet measured, most notably the D meson decay constant $f_D = 209 pm 39$ MeV.

Flavor SU(3) symmetry, including $30%$ first order SU(3) breaking, has been shown to describe adequately a vast amount of data for charmed meson decays to two pseudoscalar mesons and to a vector and a pseudoscalar meson. We review a recent dramatic p rogress achieved by applying a high order perturbation expansion in flavor SU(3) breaking and treating carefully isospin breaking. We identify a class of U-spin related $D^0$ decays to pairs involving charged pseudoscalar or vector mesons, for which high-precision nonlinear amplitude relations are predicted. Symmetry breaking terms affecting these relations are fourth order U-spin breaking, and terms which are first order in isospin breaking and second order in U-spin breaking. The predicted relations are shown to hold experimentally at a precision varying between $10^{-3}$ and $10^{-4}$, in agreement with estimates of high order terms. We also discuss amplitude relations for $D^0$ decays to pairs of neutral pseudoscalar mesons, and relations for rate asymmetries between decays involving $K^0_S$ and $K^0_L$ which hold up to second order U-spin breaking.

Based on the spontaneous breaking of chiral symmetry, chiral perturbation theory (ChPT) is believed to approximate confinement scale QCD. Dedicated and increasingly accurate experiments and improving lattice calculations are confirming this belief, a nd we are entering a new era in which we can test confinement scale QCD in some well chosen reactions. This is demonstrated with an overview of low energy experimental tests of ChPT predictions of $pipi$ scattering, pion properties, $pi$N scattering and electromagnetic pion production. These predictions have been shown to be consistent with QCD in the meson sector by increasingly accurate lattice calculations. At present there is good agreement between experiment and ChPT calculations, including the $pipi$ and $pi$N s wave scattering lengths and the $pi^{0}$ lifetime. Recent, accurate pionic atom data are in agreement with chiral calculations once isospin breaking effects due to the mass difference of the up and down quarks are taken into account, as was required to extract the $pipi$ scattering lengths. In addition to tests of the theory, comparisons between $pipi$ and $pi$N interactions based on general chiral principles are discussed. Lattice calculations are now providing results for the fundamental, long and inconclusively studied, $pi$N $sigma$ term and the contribution of the strange quark to the mass of the proton. Increasingly accurate experiments in electromagnetic pion production experiments from the proton which test ChPT calculations (and their energy region of validity) are presented. These experiments are also beginning to measure the final state $pi$N interaction. This paper is based on the concluding remarks made at the Chiral Dynamics Workshop CD12 held at Jefferson Lab in Aug. 2012.
By extending the SU(3) flavour symmetry breaking expansion from up, down and strange sea quark masses to partially quenched valence quark masses we propose a method to determine charmed quark hadron masses including possible QCD isospin breaking effe cts. Initial results for some open charmed pseudoscalar meson states and singly and doubly charmed baryon states are encouraging and demonstrate the potential of the procedure. Essential for the method is the determination of the scale using singlet quantities, and to this end we also give here a preliminary estimation of the recently introduced Wilson flow scales.
