We present an accurate computation of the g-factors of the hyperfine states of the hydrogen molecular ion H2+. The results are in good agreement with previous experiments, and can be tested further by rf spectroscopy. Their implication for high-precision two-photon vibrational spectroscopy of H2+ is also discussed. It is found that the most intense hyperfine components of two-photon lines benefit from a very small Zeeman splitting.

We present the computation of two-photon transition spectra between ro-vibrational states of the H2+ molecular ion, including the effects of hyperfine structure and excitation polarization. The reduced two-photon matrix elements are obtained by means of a variational method. We discuss the implications of our results for high-resolution spectroscopy of H2+.

Positronium is an ideal system for the research of the quantum electrodynamics (QED) in bound state. The hyperfine splitting (HFS) of positronium, $Delta_{mathrm{HFS}}$, gives a good test of the bound state calculations and probes new physics beyond the Standard Model. A new method of QED calculations has revealed the discrepancy by 15,ppm (3.9$sigma$) of $Delta_{mathrm{HFS}}$ between the QED prediction and the experimental average. There would be possibility of new physics or common systematic uncertainties in the previous all experiments. We describe a new experiment to reduce possible systematic uncertainties and will provide an independent check of the discrepancy. We are now taking data and the current result of $Delta_{mathrm{HFS}} = 203.395,1 pm 0.002,4 (mathrm{stat.}, 12,mathrm{ppm}) pm 0.001,9 (mathrm{sys.}, 9.5,mathrm{ppm}),mathrm{GHz} $ has been obtained so far. A measurement with a precision of $O$(ppm) is expected within a year.
We make the first study the optical energy level structure and interactions of pairs of single rare earth ions using a hybrid electro-optical detection method applied to Er-implanted silicon. Two examples of Er3+ pairs were identified in the optical spectrum by their characteristic energy level splitting patterns, and linear Zeeman spectra were used to characterise the sites. One pair is positively identified as two identical Er3+ ions in sites of at least C2 symmetry coupled via a large, 200 GHz Ising-like spin interaction and 1.5 GHz resonant optical interaction. Small non-Ising contributions to the spin interaction are attributed to distortion of the site measurable because of the high resolution of the single-ion measurement. The interactions are compared to previous measurements made using rare earth ensemble systems, and the application of this type of strongly coupled ion array to quantum computing is discussed.
When trapped atoms are illuminated by weak lasers, off-resonant transitions cause shifts in the frequencies of the vibrational-sideband resonances. These frequency shifts may be understood in terms of Stark-shifts of the individual levels or, as prop osed here, as a vibrational Bloch-Siegert shift, an effect closely related to the usual (radio-frequency or optical) Bloch-Siegert shift and associated with rapidly oscillating terms when the Rotating Wave Approximation is not made. Explicit analytic expressions are derived and compared to numerical results, and the similarities and differences between the usual and the vibrational Bloch-Siegert shifts are also spelled out.
Precise spectroscopy of oscillating fields plays significant roles in many fields. Here, we propose an experimentally feasible scheme to measure the frequency of a fast-oscillating field using a single-qubit sensor. By invoking a stable classical clo ck, the signal phase correlations between successive measurements enable us to extract the target frequency with extremely high precision. In addition, we integrate dynamical decoupling technique into the framework to suppress the influence of slow environmental noise. Our framework is feasible with a variety of atomic and single solid-state-spin systems within the state-of-the-art experimental capabilities as a versatile tool for quantum spectroscopy.
