We have surveyed a 6.5 x 6.5 field centered on the globular cluster M56 (NGC 6779) in search for variable stars. We have detected seven variables, among which two objects are new identifications. One of the new variables is an RR Lyrae star, the third such star in M56. Comparison of the new observations and old photometric data for an RV Tauri variable V6 indicates a likely period change in the star. Its slow and negative rate of -0.005+/-0.003 d/yr would disagree with post-AGB evolution, however this could be a result of blue-loop evolution and/or random fluctuations of the period.

We report time-series photometry for 55 variable stars located in the central part of the globular cluster M55. The sample includes 28 newly identified objects of which 13 are eclipsing binaries. Three of these are detached systems located in the tur n-off region on the cluster color-magnitude diagram. Two of them are proper motion (PM) members of M55 and are excellent candidates for a detailed follow-up study aimed at a determination of the cluster age and distance. Other detached binaries are located along the unevolved part of the cluster main sequence. Most of the variables are cluster blue straggler stars. This group includes 35 SX Phe stars, two contact binaries, and one semi-detached binary. V60 is a low mass, short period algol with the less massive and cooler component filling its Roche lobe. The more massive component is an SX Phe variable. The orbital period of V60 increases at a rate of dP/P=3.0E-9. In addition to numerous variable blue stragglers we also report the detection of two red stragglers showing periodic variability. Both of these are PM members of M55. We note and discuss the observed paucity of contact binaries among unevolved main sequence stars in M55 and NGC 6752. This apparent paucity supports an evolution model in which the formation of contact binaries is triggered by stellar evolution at the main-sequence turn off.
The field of the globular cluster M10 (NGC 6254) was monitored between 1998 and 2015 in a search for variable stars. V -light curves were derived for 40 variables or likely variables, most of which are new detections. Proper motions obtained within t he CASE project indicate that 18 newly detected variables and 14 previously known ones are members or likely members of the cluster, including one RRc-type, three type II Cepheids, and 14 SX Phe-type pulsators, one contact binary, and six semi-regular red giants. As a byproduct of the search we discovered a candidate binary comprised of main sequence stars with the record-short orbital period of 0.042 d. We also confirmed the photometric variability of the red straggler M10-VLA1 hinted at by Shishkovsky et al. (2018), who discovered this object spectroscopically. In Appendix 1 we show that CASE proper motion measurements are in a good agreement with those retrieved from the Gaia archive, while Appendix 2 presents evidence for low frequency {gamma} Doradus-type oscillations in SX Phe stars belonging to M10.

Based on over 5400 BV images of 47 Tuc collected between 1998 and 2010 we obtained light curves of 65 variables, 21 of which are newly detected objects. New variables are located mostly just outside of the core in a region poorly studied by earlier s urveys of the cluster. Among them there are four detached eclipsing binaries and five likely optical counterparts of X-ray sources. Two detached systems are promising targets for follow-up observations. We briefly discuss properties of the most interesting new variables.

Dispersion among the light elements is common in globular clusters (GCs), while dispersion among heavier elements is less common. We present detection of r-process dispersion relative to Fe in 19 red giants of the metal-poor GC M92. Using spectra obt ained with the Hydra multi-object spectrograph on the WIYN Telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory, we derive differential abundances for 21 species of 19 elements. The Fe-group elements, plus Y and Zr, are homogeneous at a level of 0.07-0.16 dex. The heavy elements La, Eu, and Ho exhibit clear star-to-star dispersion spanning 0.5-0.8 dex. The abundances of these elements are correlated with one another, and we demonstrate that they were produced by r-process nucleosynthesis. This r-process dispersion is not correlated with the dispersion in C, N, or Na in M92, indicating that r-process inhomogeneities were present in the gas throughout star formation. The r-process dispersion is similar to that previously observed in the metal-poor GC M15, but its origin in M15 or M92 is unknown at present.
The field of the globular cluster M12 (NGC 6218) was monitored between 1995 and 2009 in a search for variable stars. $BV$ light curves were obtained for 36 periodic or likely periodic variables. Thirty-four of these are new detections. Among the latt er we identified 20 proper-motion members of the cluster: six detached or semi-detached eclipsing binaries, five contact binaries, five SX~Phe pulsators, and three yellow stragglers. Two of the eclipsing binaries are located in the turnoff region, one on the lower main sequence and the remaining three among the blue stragglers. Two contact systems are blue stragglers, and the remaining three reside in the turnoff region. In the blue straggler region a total of 103 objects were found, of which 42 are proper motion members of M12, and another four are field stars. Forty-five of the remaining objects are located within two core radii from the center of the cluster, and as such they are likely genuine blue stragglers. We also report the discoveries of a radial color gradient of M12, and the shortest period among contact systems in globular clusters in general
