Let $(M,g)$ be a spacetime which admits a complete timelike conformal Killing vector field $K$. We prove that $(M,g)$ splits globally as a standard conformastationary spacetime with respect to $K$ if and only if $(M,g)$ is distinguishing (and, thus causally continuous). Causal but non-distinguishing spacetimes with complete stationary vector fields are also exhibited. For the proof, the recently solved folk problems on smoothability of time functions (moreover, the existence of a {em temporal} function) are used.

Solution generating techniques for general relativity with a conformally (and minimally) coupled scalar field are pushed forward to build a wide class of asymptotically flat, axisymmetric and stationary spacetimes continuously connected to Kerr. This family contains, amongst other things, rotating extensions of the Bekenstein black hole and also its angular and mass multipolar generalisations. Further addition of NUT charge is also discussed.
Using the quasi-Maxwell formalism, we derive the necessary and sufficient conditions for the matching of two stationary spacetimes along a stationary timelike hypersurface, expressed in terms of the gravitational and gravitomagnetic fields and the 2- dimensional matching surface on the space manifold. We prove existence and uniqueness results to the matching problem for stationary perfect fluid spacetimes with spherical, planar, hyperbolic and cylindrical symmetry. Finally, we find an explicit interior for the cylindrical analogue of the NUT spacetime.
We study various derivations of Hawking radiation in conformally rescaled metrics. We focus on two important properties, the location of the horizon under a conformal transformation and its associated temperature. We find that the production of Hawki ng radiation cannot be associated in all cases to the trapping horizon because its location is not invariant under a conformal transformation. We also find evidence that the temperature of the Hawking radiation should transform simply under a conformal transformation, being invariant for asymptotic observers in the limit that the conformal transformation factor is unity at their location.

In recent literature there appeared conflicting claims about whether the Ozsvath-Robinson-Rozga family of type N electrovac spacetimes of the Kundt class with $Lambda$ is complete. We show that indeed it is.
In this paper we consider conformally flat perturbations on the Friedmann Lemaitre Robertson Walker (FLRW) spacetime containing a general matter field. Working with the linearised field equations, we unearth some important geometrical properties of m atter shear and vorticity and how they interact with the thermodynamical quantities in the absence of any free gravity powered by the Weyl curvature. As there are hardly any physically realistic rotating exact conformally flat solutions in general relativity, these covariant and gauge invariant results bring out transparently the role of vorticity in the linearised regime. Most interestingly, we demonstrate that the matter shear obeys a transverse traceless tensor wave equation, and the vorticity obeys a vector wave equation in this regime. These shear and vorticity waves replace the gravitational waves in the sense that they causally carry the information about local change in the curvature of these spacetimes.
