New candidate variable stars have been identified in the Small Magellanic Cloud cluster NGC121, by applying both the image subtraction technique (ISIS, Alard 2000) and the Welch & Stetson (1993) detection method to HST WFPC2 archive and ACS proprietary images of the cluster. The new candidate variable stars are located from the clusters Main Sequence up to Red Giant Branch. Twenty-seven of them fall on the cluster Horizontal Branch and are very likely RR Lyrae stars. They include the few RR Lyrae stars already discussed by Walker & Mack (1988). We also detected 20 Dwarf Cepheid candidates in the central region of NGC121. Our results confirm the true globular cluster nature of NGC121, a cluster that is at the young end of the Galactic globulars age range.
We present results of a search for variable stars in the intermediate-age open cluster NGC 7044. We found 23 variable stars in the observed field. One star turned out to be of the delta Sct type with two pulsational modes excited. From the position i
We report the results of a search for variable stars in the open cluster NGC 2141. Ten variable stars are detected, among which nine are new variable stars and they are classified as three short period W UMa type eclipsing binaries, two EA type eclip
V-band time-series CCD photometric observations of the intermediate-age open cluster M11 were performed to search for variable stars. Using these time-series data, we carefully examined light variations of all stars in the observing field. A total of
We present a new search for variable stars in the Galactic globular cluster M28 (NGC 6626). The search is based on a series of BVI images obtained with the SMARTS Consortiums 1.3m telescope at Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory, Chile. The searc
We present results of time series photometry to search for variable stars in the field of metal-poor globular cluster NGC 4590 (M68). Periods have been revised for 40 known variables and no significant changes were found. A considerable change in Bla
