Early universe equations of state including realistic interactions between constituents are built up. Under certain reasonable assumptions, these equations are able to generate an inflationary regime prior to the nucleosynthesis period. The resulting accelerated expansion is intense enough to solve the flatness and horizon problems. In the cases of curvature parameter kappa equal to 0 or +1, the model is able to avoid the initial singularity and offers a natural explanation for why the universe is in expansion.

Following the observational evidence for cosmic acceleration which may exclude a possibility for the universe to recollapse to a second singularity, we review alternative scenarios of its future evolution. Although the de Sitter asymptotic state is s till an option, some other asymptotic states which allow new types of singularities such as Big-Rip (due to a phantom matter) and sudden future singularities are also admissible and are reviewed in detail. The reality of these singularities which comes from the relation to observational characteristics of the universe expansion are also revealed and widely discussed.
We study the space-time evolution of the fine structure constant, $alpha$, inside evolving spherical overdensities in a lambda-CDM Friedmann universe using the spherical infall model. We show that its value inside virialised regions will be significa ntly larger than in the low-density background universe. The consideration of the inhomogeneous evolution of the universe is therefore essential for a correct comparison of extragalactic and solar system limits on, and observations of, possible time variation in $alpha$ and other constants. Time variation in $alpha$ in the cosmological background can give rise to no locally observable variations inside virialised overdensities like the one in which we live, explaining the discrepancy between astrophysical and geochemical observations.
We revisit Bondi accretion - steady-state, adiabatic, spherical gas flow onto a Schwarzschild black hole at rest in an asymptotically homogeneous medium - for stiff polytropic equations of state (EOSs) with adiabatic indices $Gamma > 5/3$. A general relativistic treatment is required to determine their accretion rates, for which we provide exact expressions. We discuss several qualitative differences between results for soft and stiff EOSs - including the appearance of a minimum steady-state accretion rate for EOSs with $Gamma geq 5/3$ - and explore limiting cases in order to examine these differences. As an example we highlight results for $Gamma = 2$, which is often used in numerical simulations to model the EOS of neutron stars. We also discuss a special case with this index, the ultra-relativistic `causal EOS, $P = rho$. The latter serves as a useful limit for the still undetermined neutron-star EOS above nuclear density. The results are useful, for example, to estimate the accretion rate onto a mini-black hole residing at the center of a neutron star.
The detection of Pop III supernovae could directly probe the primordial IMF for the first time, unveiling the properties of the first galaxies, early chemical enrichment and reionization, and the seeds of supermassive black holes. Growing evidence th at some Pop III stars were less massive than 100 solar masses may complicate prospects for their detection, because even though they would have been more plentiful they would have died as core-collapse supernovae, with far less luminosity than pair-instability explosions. This picture greatly improves if the SN shock collides with a dense circumstellar shell ejected during a prior violent LBV type eruption. Such collisions can turn even dim SNe into extremely bright ones whose luminosities can rival those of pair-instability SNe. We present simulations of Pop III Type IIn SN light curves and spectra performed with the Los Alamos RAGE and SPECTRUM codes. Taking into account Lyman-alpha absorption in the early universe and cosmological redshifting, we find that 40 solar mass Pop III Type IIn SNe will be visible out to z ~ 20 with JWST and out to z ~ 7 with WFIRST. Thus, even low mass Pop III SNe can be used to probe the primeval universe.
We select 37 most common and realistic dense matter equation of states to integrate the general relativistic stellar structure equations for static spherically symmetric matter configurations. For all these models, we check the compliance of the acce ptability conditions that every stellar model should satisfy. It was found that some of the non-relativistic equation of states violate the causality and/or the dominant energy condition and that adiabatic instabilities appear in the inner crust for all equation of state considered.
