It is reported on a global analysis of hard vector-meson electroproduction which is based on the handbag factorization. The generalized parton distributions are constructed from their forward limits with the help of double distributions and the parto nic subprocesses are calculated within the modified perturbative approach.
The photoproduction of $omega$ mesons on LH_2, C and Nb has been studied for incident photon energies from 900 to 1300 MeV using the CB/TAPS detector at ELSA. The $omega$ line shape does not show any significant difference between the LH_2 and the Nb targets. The data are compared with results of transport calculations that predict a sensitivity of the $omega$ line shape to in-medium modifications near the production threshold on a free nucleon of $E_{gamma}^{lab}$ = 1109 MeV.}

In this talk various spin effects in hard exclusive electroproduction of mesons are briefly reviewed. The data are discussed in the light of recent theoretical calculations within the frame work of the handbag approach.
We discuss various aspects of vector meson production, first analysing the interplay between perturbative and nonperturbative aspects of the QCD calculation. Using a general method adapted to incorporate both perturbative and nonpertubative aspects, we show that nonperturbative effects are important for all experimentally available values of the photon virtuality Q2. We compare the huge amount of experimental information now available with our theoretical results obtained using a specific nonperturbative model without free parameters, showing that quite simple features are able to explain the data.
Diffractive photoproduction of rho, phi and J/psi was studied in the BFKL approach to hard colour singlet exchange. Differential cross sections, the energy dependence and spin density matrix elements were calculated and compared to data from HERA. Th e overall description of data is reasonably good, except of the single flip amplitude which has the wrong sign. Importance of chiral odd components of the photon is stressed.
