We verify the nature of emission-line stars in the field of the open cluster NGC 6910. % Spectroscopy in the H-alpha region was obtained. Raw CCD frames of spectra of all stars fainter than V = 9 mag observed by us are significantly affected by nebular emission originating in the surrounding HII region IC 1318. After careful data reduction and subtraction of the nebular radiation we succeeded in obtaining reliable stellar spectra. We confirm that the star NGC 6910 37 is a Be star, and we have corrected the classification of V1973 Cyg from an Ae star to a normal A type star. Since the diffuse interstellar bands do not appear in the spectrum of this star while being present in the other stars we observed, we confirm that V1973 Cyg is a foreground object with respect to IC 1318 and NGC 6910. We also find that the H-alpha line in HD 194279 has a P Cygni profile and the H-alpha line profile is variable in HD 229196.

We present a UBV I and H alpha photometric study of the young open cluster NGC 1893 in the H II region W8 (IC 410 or Sh 2-236). A total of 65 early-type members are selected from photometric diagrams. A mean reddening of the stars is <E(B-V)> = 0.563 +/- 0.083 mag. The published photometric data in the near- and mid-infrared passbands are used to test the reddening law toward the cluster, and we confirm that the reddening law is normal (R_V = 3.1). Zero-age main sequence fitting gives a distance modulus of V_0 - M_V = 12.7 +/- 0.2 mag, equivalent to 3.5 +/- 0.3 kpc. From H alpha photometry 125 H alpha emission stars and candidates are identified as pre-main sequence (PMS). The lists of young stellar objects and X-ray sources published by previous studies allow us to select a large number of PMS members down to 1 M_sun. Isochrone fitting in the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram gives a turn-off age of 1.5 Myr and the median age of 1.9 Myr from the PMS members with a spread of 5 Myr. We derive the initial mass function (IMF) for stars with mass larger than 1 M_sun. The slope of the IMF (Gamma = -1.3 +/- 0.1) is well consistent with the Salpeter/Kroupa IMF. A total mass of the cluster appears to be in excess of 1,300 M_sun. Finally, we estimate the mass accretion rate of 82 PMS members in the mass range of 0.6 M_sun to 5 M_sun.

As a result of the variability survey in Chi Persei and NGC6910, the number of Beta Cep stars that are members of these two open clusters is increased to twenty stars, nine in NGC6910 and eleven in Chi Persei. We compare pulsational properties, in pa rticular the frequency spectra, of Beta Cep stars in both clusters and explain the differences in terms of the global parameters of the clusters. We also indicate that the more complicated pattern of the variability among B type stars in Chi Persei is very likely caused by higher rotational velocities of stars in this cluster. We conclude that the sample of pulsating stars in the two open clusters constitutes a very good starting point for the ensemble asteroseismology of Beta Cep-type stars and maybe also for other B-type pulsators.
The observation of the Ca II H and K lines in red giants in NGC 6940 allows the strength of chromospheres and their behavior to be evaluated in a population whose evolution is well understood. Spectra in the Ca II lines have been obtained for giant s tars in this cluster. Emission reversals are present in some objects. The absolute flux in the chromospheric emission is determined as a function of effective temperature for stars on the red giant branch. The stellar surface flux in the Ca II lines decreases smoothly with increasing $(B-V)$ in contradiction to model predictions.
Deep and wide-field optical photometric observations along with multiwavelength archival datasets have been employed to study the physical properties of the cluster NGC 6910. The study also examines the impact of massive stars to their environment. T he age, distance and reddening of the cluster are estimated to be $sim$4.5 Myr, $1.72pm0.08$ kpc, and $ E(B-V)_{min}= 0.95$ mag, respectively. The mass function slope ($Gamma = -0.74pm0.15$ in the cluster region is found to be flatter than the Salpeter value (-1.35), indicating the presence of excess number of massive stars. The cluster also shows mass segregation towards the central region due to their formation processes. The distribution of warm dust emission is investigated towards the central region of the cluster, showing the signature of the impact of massive stars within the cluster region. Radio continuum clumps powered by massive B-type stars (age range $sim$ 0.07-0.12 Myr) are traced, which are located away from the center of the stellar cluster NGC 6910 (age $sim$ 4.5 Myr). Based on the values of different pressure components exerted by massive stars, the photoionized gas associated with the cluster is found to be the dominant feedback mechanism in the cluster. Overall, the massive stars in the cluster might have triggered the birth of young massive B-type stars in the cluster. This argument is supported with evidence of the observed age gradient between the cluster and the powering sources of the radio clumps.

We present a $BVI$ photometric and astrometric catalogue of the open cluster NGC 3960, down to limiting magnitude $Vsim22$, obtained from observations taken with the Wide Field Imager camera at the MPG/ESO 2.2 m Telescope at La Silla. The photometry of all the stars detected in our field of view has been used to estimate a map of the strong differential reddening affecting this area. Our results indicate that, within the region where the cluster dominates, the $E(V-I)$ values range from 0.21 up to 0.78, with $E(V-I)=0.36$ ($E(B-V)=0.29$) at the nominal cluster centroid position; color excesses $E(V-I)$ up to 1 mag have been measured in the external regions of the field of view where field stars dominate. The reddening corrected color-magnitude diagram (CMD) allows us to conclude that the cluster has an age between 0.9 and 1.4 Gyr and a distance modulus of $(V-M_V)_0=11.35$. In order to minimize field star contamination, their number has been statistically subtracted based on the surface density map. The empirical cluster main sequence has been recovered in the $V$ vs. $V-I$ and in the $J$ vs. $J-K_S$ planes, using optical and infrared data, respectively. From these empirical cluster main sequences, two samples of candidate cluster members were derived in order to obtain the luminosity distributions as a function of the $V$ and $J$ magnitudes. The Luminosity Functions have been transformed into the corresponding Mass Functions; for $M>1 M_odot$, the two distributions have been fitted with a power law of index $alpha_V=2.95pm0.53$ and $alpha_J=2.81pm0.84$ in $V$ and in $J$, respectively, while the Salpeter Mass Function in this notation has index $alpha=2.35$.
