Neutron scattering from high-quality YBCO6.334 single crystals with a T$_c$ of 8.4 K shows that there is no coexistence with long-range antiferromagnetic order at this very low, near-critical doping of $sim$0.055, in contrast to claims based on local probe techniques. We find that the neutron resonance seen in optimally doped YBCO7 and underdoped YBCO6.5, has undergone large softening and damping. It appears that the overdamped resonance, with a relaxation rate of 2 meV, is coupled to a zero-energy central mode that grows with cooling and eventually saturates with no change at or below T$_c$. Although a similar qualitative behaviour is found for YBCO6.35, our study shows that the central mode is stronger in YBCO6.334 than YBCO6.35. The system remains subcritical with short-ranged three dimensional correlations.

We report a systematic magnetotransport study of superconducting infinite-layer nickelate thin films Nd$_{1-x}$Sr$_x$NiO$_2$ with $0.15 leq x leq 0.225$. By suppressing superconductivity with out-of-plane magnetic fields up to 37.5 T, we find that th e normal state resistivity of Nd$_{1-x}$Sr$_x$NiO$_2$ is characterized by a crossover from a metallic $T^2$-behavior to an insulating log(1/$T$)-behavior for all $x$ except $x = 0.225$, at which a metallic behavior is found to persist down to subkelvin temperatures. Our findings suggest the insulator-metal crossover is driven not by disorder, but by strong electron correlations and the possible presence of a competing order parameter.
It has recently been demonstrated that dynamical magnetic correlations measured by neutron scattering in iron chalcogenides can be described with models of short-range correlations characterized by particular {choices of four-spin plaquettes, where t he appropriate choice changes as the} parent material is doped towards superconductivity. Here we apply such models to describe measured maps of magnetic scattering as a function of two-dimensional wave vectors obtained for optimally superconducting crystals of FeTe$_{1-x}$Se$_x$. We show that the characteristic antiferromagnetic wave vector evolves from that of the bicollinear structure found in underdoped chalcogenides (at high temperature) to that associated with the stripe structure of antiferromagnetic iron arsenides (at low temperature); {these can both be described with the same local plaquette, but with different inter-plaquette correlations}. While the magnitude of the low-energy magnetic spectral weight is substantial at all temperatures, it actually weakens somewhat at low temperature, where the charge carriers become more itinerant. The observed change in spin correlations is correlated with the dramatic drop in the electronic scattering rate and the growth of the bulk nematic response on cooling. Finally, we also present powder neutron diffraction results for lattice parameters in FeTe$_{1-x}$Se$_x$ indicating that the tetrahedral bond angle tends to increase towards the ideal value on cooling, in agreement with the increased screening of the crystal field by more itinerant electrons and the correspondingly smaller splitting of the Fe $3d$ orbitals.

We report characterization results by energy dispersive x-ray analysis and AC-susceptibility for a statistically relevant number of single layer Bi-cuprate single crystals. We show that the two structurally quite different modifications of the single -layered Bi-cuprate, namely (La,Pb=0.4)-Bi2201 and La-Bi2201, exhibit anomalies in the superconducting transition temperature at certain hole doping, e.g. at 1/8 holes per Cu. These doping values agree well with the magic doping fractions found in the temperature dependent resistance of LSCO by Komiya et al. This new set of findings suggests that all these anomalies are generic for the hole-doped high-temperature superconductors.
We report muon spin rotation ($mu$SR) and magnetization measurements under pressure on Fe$_{1+delta}$Se$_mathrm{1text{-}x}$S$_mathrm{x}$ with x $approx 0.11$.Above $papprox0.6$ GPa we find microscopic coexistence of superconductivity with an extended dome of long range magnetic order that spans a pressure range between previously reported separated magnetic phases. The magnetism initially competes on an atomic scale with the coexisting superconductivity leading to a local maximum and minimum of the superconducting $T_mathrm{c}(p)$. The maximum of $T_mathrm{c}$ corresponds to the onset of magnetism while the minimum coincides with the pressure of strongest competition. A shift of the maximum of $T_mathrm{c}(p)$ for a series of single crystals with x up to 0.14 roughly extrapolates to a putative magnetic and superconducting state at ambient pressure for x $geq0.2$.
One of the most exciting discoveries in strongly correlated systems has been the existence of a superconducting dome on heavy fermions close to the quantum critical point where antiferromagnetic order disappears. It is hard even for the most skeptica l not to admit that the excitations which bind the electrons in the Cooper pairs have a magnetic origin. As a system moves away from an antiferromagnetic quantum critical point, (AFQCP) the correlation length of the fluctuations decreases and the system goes into a local quantum critical regime. The attractive interaction mediated by the non-local part of these excitations vanishes and this allows to obtain an upper bound to the superconducting dome around an AFQCP.
