Using a variation of Lueschers geometric charge definition for SU(2) lattice gauge theory, we have managed to give a geometric expression for its Chern-Simons ter. From this definition we have checked the periodic structure. we determined the Chern-Simons density for symmetric and asymmetric lattices near the critical region in the SU(2) Higgs model. The data indicate that tunneling is increased at high temperature.

In this work, we study the behavior of the nonabelian five-dimensional Chern-Simons term at finite temperature regime in order to verify the possible nonanalyticity. We employ two methods, a perturbative and a non-perturbative one. No scheme of regul arization is needed, and we verify the nonanalyticity of the self-energy of the photon in the origin of momentum space by two conditions that do not commute, namely, the static limit $(k_0=0,vec krightarrow 0)$ and the long wavelength limit $(k_0rightarrow 0,vec k= 0)$, while its tensorial structure holds in both limits.
The contribution of nontrivial vacuum (topological) excitations, more specifically vortex configurations of the self-dual Chern-Simons-Higgs model, to the functional partition function is considered. By using a duality transformation, we arrive at a representation of the partition function in terms of which explicit vortex degrees of freedom are coupled to a dual gauge field. By matching the obtained action to a field theory for the vortices, the physical properties of the model in the presence of vortex excitations are then studied. In terms of this field theory for vortices in the self-dual Chern-Simons Higgs model, we determine the location of the critical value for the Chern-Simons parameter below which vortex condensation can happen in the system. The effects of self-energy quantum corrections to the vortex field are also considered.

We study the finite-temperature electroweak phase transition of the minimal standard model within the four-dimensional SU(2) gauge-Higgs model. Monte Carlo simulations are performed for intermediate values of the Higgs boson mass in the range $50 les ssim M_H lesssim 100$GeV on a lattice with the temporal size $N_t=2$. The order of the transition is systematically examined using finite-size scaling methods. Behavior of the interface tension and the latent heat for an increasing Higgs boson mass is also investigated. Our results suggest that the first-order transition terminates around $M_H sim 80$GeV.

We study the finite-temperature phase transition of the four-dimensional SU(2) gauge-Higgs model for intermediate values of the Higgs boson mass in the range $50 lsim m_H lsim 100$GeV on a lattice with the temporal lattice size $N_t=2$. The order of the transition is systematically examined using finite size scaling methods. Behavior of the interface tension and the latent heat for an increasing Higgs boson mass is also investigated.
The corelation masses of the 3-dimensional SU(2)-Higgs-model are calculated from the bound state Greens function. For a heavy-light and a light-light system the results are reported. We compare with lattice data and find good agreement.
