The implications of the relativistic space-time structure for a physical description by quantum mechanical wave-functions are investigated. On the basis of a detailed analysis of Bells concept of local causality, which is violated in quantum theory, we argue that this is a subtle, as well as an important effort. A central requirement appearing in relativistic quantum mechanics, namely local commutativity, is analyzed in detail and possible justifications are given and discussed. The complexity of the implications of wave function reduction in connection with Minkowski space-time are illustrated by a quantum mechanical measurement procedure which was proposed by Aharonov and Albert. This procedure and its relativistic implications are explicitly analyzed and discussed in terms of state evolution. This analysis shows that the usual notion of state evolution fails in relativistic quantum theory. Two possible solutions of this problem are given. In particular, it is shown that also a theory with a distinguished foliation of space-time into space-like leafs - accounting for nonlocality - makes the right predictions for the Aharonov-Albert experiment. We will repeatedly encounter that an analysis of the wave-function alone does not suffice to answer the question of relativistic compatibility of the theory, but that the actual events in space time, which are predicted and described by the theory, are crucial. In this paper we recall the construction of scalar field action on $kappa$-Minkowski space-time and investigate its properties. In particular we show how the co-product of $kappa$-Poincare algebra of symmetries arises from the analysis of the symmetr ies of the action, expressed in terms of Fourier transformed fields. We also derive the action on commuting space-time, equivalent to the original one. Adding the self-interaction $Phi^4$ term we investigate the modified conservation laws. We show that the local interactions on $kappa$-Minkowski space-time give rise to 6 inequivalent ways in which energy and momentum can be conserved at four-point vertex. We discuss the relevance of these results for Doubly Special Relativity.

This white paper aims to identify an open problem in Quantum Physics and the Nature of Reality --namely whether quantum theory and special relativity are formally compatible--, to indicate what the underlying issues are, and put forward ideas about how the problem might be addressed.
A new localization scheme for Klein-Gordon particle states is introduced in the form of general space and time operators. The definition of these operators is achieved by establishing a second quantum field in the momentum space of the standard field we want to localize (here Klein-Gordon field). The motivation for defining a new field in momentum space is as follows. In standard field theories one can define a momentum (and energy) operator for a field excitation but not a general position (and time) operator because the field satisfies a differential equation in position space and, through its Fourier transform, an algebraic equation in momentum space. Thus, in a field theory which does the opposite, namely it satisfies a differential equation in momentum space and an algebraic equation in position space, we will be able to define a position and time operator. Since the new field lives in the momentum space of the Klein-Gordon field, the creation/annihilation operators of the former, which build the new space and time operators, reduce to the field operators of the latter. As a result, particle states of Klein-Gordon field are eigenstates of the new space and time operators and therefore localized on a space-time described by their spectrum. Finally, we show that this space-time is flat because it accommodates the two postulates of special relativity. Interpretation of special relativistic notions as inertial observers and proper acceleration in terms of the new field is also provided.
It is shown how a Doubly-Special Relativity model can emerge from a quantum cellular automaton description of the evolution of countably many interacting quantum systems. We consider a one-dimensional automaton that spawns the Dirac evolution in the relativistic limit of small wave-vectors and masses (in Planck units). The assumption of invariance of dispersion relations for boosted observers leads to a non-linear representation of the Lorentz group on the $(omega,k)$ space, with an additional invariant given by the wave-vector $k=pi /2$. The space-time reconstructed from the $(omega,k)$ space is intrinsically quantum, and exhibits the phenomenon of relative locality.

Late time properties of moving relativistic particles are studied. Within the proper relativistic treatment of the problem we find decay curves of such particles and we show that late time deviations of the survival probability of these particles fro m the exponential form of the decay law, that is the transition times region between exponential and non-expo-nen-tial form of the survival amplitude, occur much earlier than it follows from the classical standard approach boiled down to replace time $t$ by $t/gamma_{L}$ (where $gamma_{L}$ is the relativistic Lorentz factor) in the formula for the survival probability. The consequence is that fluctuations of the corresponding decay curves can appear much earlier and much more unstable particles have a chance to survive up to these times or later. It is also shown that fluctuations of the instantaneous energy of the moving unstable particles has a similar form as the fluctuations in the particle rest frame but they are seen by the observer in his rest system much earlier than one could expect replacing $t$ by $t/gamma_{L}$ in the corresponding expressions for this energy and that the amplitude of these fluctuations can be even larger than it follows from the standard approach. All these effects seems to be important when interpreting some accelerator experiments with high energy unstable particles and the like (possible connections of these effects with GSI anomaly are analyzed) and some results of astrophysical observations.
