We try to shed some light on the role of matter in the final stages of black hole evaporation from the fundamental frameworks of classicalization and the black-to-white hole bouncing scenario. Despite being based on very different grounds, these two approaches attempt at going beyond the background field method and treat black holes as fully quantum systems rather than considering quantum field theory on the corresponding classical manifolds. They also lead to the common prediction that the semiclassical description of black hole evaporation should break down and the system be disrupted by internal quantum pressure, but they both arrive at this conclusion neglecting the matter that formed the black hole. We instead estimate this pressure from the bootstrapped description of black holes, which allows us to express the total Arnowitt-Deser-Misner mass in terms of the baryonic mass still present inside the black hole. We conclude that, although these two scenarios provide qualitatively similar predictions for the final stages, the corpuscular model does not seem to suggest any sizeable deviation from the semiclassical time scale at which the disruption should occur, unlike the black-to-white hole bouncing scenario. This, in turn, makes the phenomenology of corpuscular black holes more subtle from an astrophysical perspective.

We present a model for studying the formation and evaporation of non-singular (quantum corrected) black holes. The model is based on a generalized form of the dimensionally reduced, spherically symmetric Einstein--Hilbert action and includes a suitab ly generalized Polyakov action to provide a mechanism for radiation back-reaction. The equations of motion describing self-gravitating scalar field collapse are derived in local form both in null co--ordinates and in Painleve--Gullstrand (flat slice) co--ordinates. They provide the starting point for numerical studies of complete spacetimes containing dynamical horizons that bound a compact trapped region. Such spacetimes have been proposed in the past as solutions to the information loss problem because they possess neither an event horizon nor a singularity. Since the equations of motion in our model are derived from a diffeomorphism invariant action they preserve the constraint algebra and the resulting energy momentum tensor is manifestly conserved.

We present a quantum description of black holes with a matter core given by coherent states of gravitons. The expected behaviour in the weak-field region outside the horizon is recovered, with arbitrarily good approximation, but the classical central singularity cannot be resolved because the coherent states do not contain modes of arbitrarily short wavelength. Ensuing quantum corrections both in the interior and exterior are also estimated by assuming the mean-field approximation continues to hold. These deviations from the classical black hole geometry could result in observable effects in the gravitational collapse of compact objects and both astrophysical and microscopic black holes.
We compute the gravitational wave energy $E_{rm rad}$ radiated in head-on collisions of equal-mass, nonspinning black holes in up to $D=8$ dimensional asymptotically flat spacetimes for boost velocities $v$ up to about $90,%$ of the speed of light. W e identify two main regimes: Weak radiation at velocities up to about $40,%$ of the speed of light, and exponential growth of $E_{rm rad}$ with $v$ at larger velocities. Extrapolation to the speed of light predicts a limit of $12.9,%$ $(10.1,~7.7,~5.5,~4.5),%$. of the total mass that is lost in gravitational waves in $D=4$ $(5,,6,,7,,8)$ spacetime dimensions. In agreement with perturbative calculations, we observe that the radiation is minimal for small but finite velocities, rather than for collisions starting from rest. Our computations support the identification of regimes with super Planckian curvature outside the black-hole horizons reported by Okawa, Nakao, and Shibata [Phys.~Rev.~D {bf 83} 121501(R) (2011)].
In this paper,we have studied phase transitions of higher dimensional charge black hole with spherical symmetry. we calculated the local energy and local temperature, and find that these state parameters satisfy the first law of thermodynamics. We an alyze the critical behavior of black hole thermodynamic system by taking state parameters $(Q,Phi)$ of black hole thermodynamic system, in accordance with considering to the state parameters $(P,V)$ of Van der Waals system respectively. we obtain the critical point of black hole thermodynamic system, and find the critical point is independent of the dual independent variables we selected. This result for asymptotically flat space is consistent with that for AdS spacetime, and is intrinsic property of black hole thermodynamic system.
In this paper, we study static and spherically symmetric black hole (BH) solutions in the scalar-tensor theories with the coupling of the scalar field to the Gauss-Bonnet (GB) term $xi (phi) R_{rm GB}$, where $R_{rm GB}:=R^2-4R^{alphabeta}R_{alphabet a}+R^{alphabetamu u}R_{alphabetamu u}$ is the GB invariant and $xi(phi)$ is a function of the scalar field $phi$. Recently, it was shown that in these theories scalarized static and spherically symmetric BH solutions which are different from the Schwarzschild solution and possess the nontrivial profiles of the scalar field can be realized for certain choices of the coupling functions and parameters. These scalarized BH solutions are classified in terms of the number of nodes of the scalar field. It was then pointed out that in the case of the pure quadratic order coupling to the GB term, $xi(phi)=eta phi^2/8$, scalarized BH solutions with any number of nodes are unstable against the radial perturbation. In order to see how a higher order power of $phi$ in the coupling function $xi(phi)$ affects the properties of the scalarized BHs and their stability, we investigate scalarized BH solutions in the presence of the quartic order term in the GB coupling function, $xi(phi)=eta phi^2 (1+alpha phi^2)/8$. We clarify that the existence of the higher order term in the coupling function can realize scalarized BHs with zero nodes of the scalar field which are stable against the radial perturbation.
