We derive an adiabatic theory for a stochastic differential equation, $ varepsilon, mathrm{d} X(s) = L_1(s) X(s), mathrm{d} s + sqrt{varepsilon} L_2(s) X(s) , mathrm{d} B_s, $ under a condition that instantaneous stationary states of $L_1(s)$ are also stationary states of $L_2(s)$. We use our results to derive the full statistics of tunneling for a driven stochastic Schr{o}dinger equation describing a dephasing process.

We consider a physical system with a coupling to bosonic reservoirs via a quantum stochastic differential equation. We study the limit of this model as the coupling strength tends to infinity. We show that in this limit the solution to the quantum st ochastic differential equation converges strongly to the solution of a limit quantum stochastic differential equation. In the limiting dynamics the excited states are removed and the ground states couple directly to the reservoirs.

Quantum control could be implemented by varying the system Hamiltonian. According to adiabatic theorem, a slowly changing Hamiltonian can approximately keep the system at the ground state during the evolution if the initial state is a ground state. I n this paper we consider this process as an interpolation between the initial and final Hamiltonians. We use the mean value of a single operator to measure the distance between the final state and the ideal ground state. This measure could be taken as the error of adiabatic approximation. We prove under certain conditions, this error can be precisely estimated for an arbitrarily given interpolating function. This error estimation could be used as guideline to induce adiabatic evolution. According to our calculation, the adiabatic approximation error is not proportional to the average speed of the variation of the system Hamiltonian and the inverse of the energy gaps in many cases. In particular, we apply this analysis to an example on which the applicability of the adiabatic theorem is questionable.
The adiabatic theorem refers to a setup where an evolution equation contains a time-dependent parameter whose change is very slow, measured by a vanishing parameter $epsilon$. Under suitable assumptions the solution of the time-inhomogenous equation stays close to an instantaneous fixpoint. In the present paper, we prove an adiabatic theorem with an error bound that is independent of the number of degrees of freedom. Our setup is that of quantum spin systems where the manifold of ground states is separated from the rest of the spectrum by a spectral gap. One important application is the proof of the validity of linear response theory for such extended, genuinely interacting systems. In general, this is a long-standing mathematical problem, which can be solved in the present particular case of a gapped system, relevant e.g.~for the integer quantum Hall effect.
We study the stability of quantum pure states and, more generally, subspaces for stochastic dynamics that describe continuously--monitored systems. We show that the target subspace is almost surely invariant if and only if it is invariant for the ave rage evolution, and that the same equivalence holds for the global asymptotic stability. Moreover, we prove that a strict linear Lyapunov function for the average evolution always exists, and latter can be used to derive sharp bounds on the Lyapunov exponents of the associated semigroup. Nonetheless, we also show that taking into account the measurements can lead to an improved bound on stability rate for the stochastic, non-averaged dynamics. We discuss explicit examples where the almost sure stability rate can be made arbitrary large while the average one stays constant.

We introduce the notion of stochastic product as a binary operation on the convex set of quantum states (the density operators) that preserves the convex structure, and we investigate its main consequences. We consider, in particular, stochastic prod ucts that are covariant wrt a symmetry action of a locally compact group. We then construct an interesting class of group-covariant, associative stochastic products, the so-called twirled stochastic products. Every binary operation in this class is generated by a triple formed by a square integrable projective representation of a locally compact group, by a probability measure on that group and by a fiducial density operator acting in the carrier Hilbert space of the representation. The salient properties of such a product are studied. It is argued, in particular, that, extending this binary operation from the density operators to the whole Banach space of trace class operators, this space becomes a Banach algebra, a so-called twirled stochastic algebra. This algebra is shown to be commutative in the case where the relevant group is abelian. In particular, the commutative stochastic products generated by the Weyl system are treated in detail. Finally, the physical interpretation of twirled stochastic products and various interesting connections with the literature are discussed.
