With the advancement of IoT and artificial intelligence technologies, and the need for rapid application growth in fields such as security entrance control and financial business trade, facial information processing has become an important means for achieving identity authentication and information security. In this paper, we propose a multi-feature fusion algorithm based on integral histograms and a real-time update tracking particle filtering module. First, edge and colour features are extracted, weighting methods are used to weight the colour histogram and edge features to describe facial features, and fusion of colour and edge features is made adaptive by using fusion coefficients to improve face tracking reliability. Then, the integral histogram is integrated into the particle filtering algorithm to simplify the calculation steps of complex particles. Finally, the tracking window size is adjusted in real time according to the change in the average distance from the particle centre to the edge of the current model and the initial model to reduce the drift problem and achieve stable tracking with significant changes in the target dimension. The results show that the algorithm improves video tracking accuracy, simplifies particle operation complexity, improves the speed, and has good anti-interference ability and robustness.
This paper investigates the impact of economic policy uncertainty (EPU) on the crash risk of US stock market during the COVID-19 pandemic. To this end, we use the GARCH-S (GARCH with skewness) model to estimate daily skewness as a proxy for the stock market crash risk. The empirical results show the significantly negative correlation between EPU and stock market crash risk, indicating the aggravation of EPU increase the crash risk. Moreover, the negative correlation gets stronger after the global COVID-19 outbreak, which shows the crash risk of the US stock market will be more affected by EPU during the pandemic.
This study investigates the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the stock market crash risk in China. For this purpose, we first estimated the conditional skewness of the return distribution from a GARCH with skewness (GARCH-S) model as the proxy for the equity market crash risk of the Shanghai Stock Exchange. We then constructed a fear index for COVID-19 using data from the Baidu Index. Based on the findings, conditional skewness reacts negatively to daily growth in total confirmed cases, indicating that the pandemic increases stock market crash risk. Moreover, the fear sentiment exacerbates such risk, especially with regard to the impact of COVID-19. In other words, when the fear sentiment is high, the stock market crash risk is more strongly affected by the pandemic. Our evidence is robust for the number of daily deaths and global cases.
Recently, a distinct topological semimetal, nodal-net semimetal, has been identified by Wang et al. through ab initio calculations [Phys. Rev. Lett. 120, 026402 (2018)]. The authors claimed that a new body-centered tetragonal carbon allotrope with I4 /mmm symmetry, termed bct-C40, can host this novel state exhibiting boxed-astrisk shaped nodal nets. In this Comment, we demonstrate that bct-C40 is in fact a nodal surface semimetal, the concept of which has been proposed as early as 2016 [Phys. Rev. B 93, 085427 (2016)].
In the presence of spin-orbit coupling (SOC), achieving both spin and valley polarized Dirac state is significant to promote the fantastic integration of Dirac physics, spintronics and valleytronics. Based on ab initio calculations, here we demonstra te that a class of spin-valley-coupled Dirac semimetals (svc-DSMs) in the functionalized SbAs monolayers (MLs) can host such desired state. Distinguished from the graphene-like 2D Dirac materials, the Dirac cones in svc-DSMs hold giant spin-splitting induced by strong SOC under inversion symmetry breaking. In the 2.3% strained SbAsH2 ML, the Dirac fermions in inequivalent valleys have opposite Berry curvature and spin moment, giving rise to Dirac spin-valley Hall effect with constant spin Hall conductivity as well as massless and dissipationless transport. Topological analysis reveals that the svc-DSM emerges at the boundary between trivial and 2D topological insulators, which provides a promising platform for realizing the flexible and controllable tuning among different quantum states.

Owing to the natural compatibility with current semiconductor industry, silicon allotropes with diverse structural and electronic properties provide promising platforms for the next-generation Si-based devices. After screening 230 all-silicon crystal s in the zeolite frameworks by first-principles calculations, we disclose two structurally stable Si allotropes (AHT-Si24 and VFI-Si36) containing open channels as topological node-line semimetals with Dirac nodal points forming a nodal loop in the kz=0 plane of Brillouin zone. Interestingly, their nodal loops protected by inversion and time-reversal symmetries are robust against SU(2) symmetry breaking due to very weak spin-orbit coupling of Si. When the nodal lines are projected onto the (001) surface, flat surface bands can be observed because of the nontrivial topology of the bulk band structures. Our discoveries extend the topological physics to the three-dimensional Si materials, highlighting the possibility to realize low-cost, nontoxic and semiconductor-compatible Si-based electronics with topological quantum states.
