Self-supervised Multi-view stereo (MVS) with a pretext task of image reconstruction has achieved significant progress recently. However, previous methods are built upon intuitions, lacking comprehensive explanations about the effectiveness of the pre text task in self-supervised MVS. To this end, we propose to estimate epistemic uncertainty in self-supervised MVS, accounting for what the model ignores. Specially, the limitations can be categorized into two types: ambiguious supervision in foreground and invalid supervision in background. To address these issues, we propose a novel Uncertainty reduction Multi-view Stereo (UMVS) framework for self-supervised learning. To alleviate ambiguous supervision in foreground, we involve extra correspondence prior with a flow-depth consistency loss. The dense 2D correspondence of optical flows is used to regularize the 3D stereo correspondence in MVS. To handle the invalid supervision in background, we use Monte-Carlo Dropout to acquire the uncertainty map and further filter the unreliable supervision signals on invalid regions. Extensive experiments on DTU and Tank&Temples benchmark show that our U-MVS framework achieves the best performance among unsupervised MVS methods, with competitive performance with its supervised opponents.
In this paper, a sparse Kronecker-product (SKP) coding scheme is proposed for unsourced multiple access. Specifically, the data of each active user is encoded as the Kronecker product of two component codewords with one being sparse and the other bei ng forward-error-correction (FEC) coded. At the receiver, an iterative decoding algorithm is developed, consisting of matrix factorization for the decomposition of the Kronecker product and soft-in soft-out decoding for the component sparse code and the FEC code. The cyclic redundancy check (CRC) aided interference cancellation technique is further incorporated for performance improvement. Numerical results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the state-of-the-art counterparts, and approaches the random coding bound within a gap of only 0.1 dB at the code length of 30000 when the number of active users is less than 75, and the error rate can be made very small even if the number of active users is relatively large.
In this paper we are concerned with the asymptotic analysis of nonbinary spatially-coupled low-density parity-check (SC-LDPC) ensembles defined over GL$left(2^{m}right)$ (the general linear group of degree $m$ over GF$left(2right)$). Our purpose is t o prove threshold saturation when the transmission takes place on the binary erasure channel (BEC). To this end, we establish the duality rule for entropy for nonbinary variable-node (VN) and check-node (CN) convolutional operators to accommodate the nonbinary density evolution (DE) analysis. Based on this, we construct the explicit forms of the potential functions for uncoupled and coupled DE recursions. In addition, we show that these functions exhibit similar monotonicity properties as those for binary LDPC and SC-LDPC ensembles over general binary memoryless symmetric (BMS) channels. This leads to the threshold saturation theorem and its converse for nonbinary SC-LDPC ensembles on the BEC, following the proof technique developed by S. Kumar et al.
