The RooStats toolkit, which is distributed with the ROOT software package, provides a large collection of software tools that implement statistical methods commonly used by the High Energy Physics community. The toolkit is based on RooFit, a high-lev el data analysis modeling package that implements various methods of statistical data analysis. RooStats enforces a clear mapping of statistical concepts to C++ classes and methods and emphasizes the ability to easily combine analyses within and across experiments. We present an overview of the RooStats toolkit, describe some of the methods used for hypothesis testing and estimation of confidence intervals and finally discuss some of the latest developments.

Results of recent Higgs boson and beyond standard model searches in CMS performed with datasets of 1.0 - 1.7 fb-1 will be summarized in this proceeding contributed to the 41st International Symposium on Multiparticle Dynamics (ISMD2011).
RooStatsCms is an object oriented statistical framework based on the RooFit technology. Its scope is to allow the modelling, statistical analysis and combination of multiple search channels for new phenomena in High Energy Physics. It provides a vari ety of methods described in literature implemented as classes, whose design is oriented to the execution of multiple CPU intensive jobs on batch systems or on the Grid.
The RooStatsCms (RSC) software framework allows analysis modelling and combination, statistical studies together with the access to sophisticated graphics routines for results visualisation. The goal of the project is to complement the existing analy ses by means of their combination and accurate statistical studies.
