We have discovered a sim420d modulation, with associated X-ray dips, in RXTE-ASM/MAXI/Swift-BAT archival light-curves of the short-period (3.2h) black-hole X-ray transient, Swift J1753.5-0127. This modulation only appeared at the end of a gradual reb rightening, approximately 3 years after the initial X-ray outburst in mid-2005. The same periodicity is present in both the 2-20 keV and 15-50 keV bands, but with a sim0.1 phase offset (sim40d). Contemporaneous photometry in the optical and near-IR reveals a weaker modulation, but consistent with the X-ray period. There are two substantial X-ray dips (very strong in the 15-50 keV band, weaker at lower energies) that are separated by an interval equal to the X-ray period. This likely indicates two physically separated emitting regions for the hard X-ray and lower energy emission. We interpret this periodicity as a property of the accretion disc, most likely a long-term precession, where the disc edge structure and X-ray irradiation is responsible for the hard X-ray dips and modulation, although we discuss other possible explanations, including Lense-Thirring precession in the inner disc region and spectral state variations. Such precession indicates a very high mass ratio LMXB, which even for a sim10M_sun BH requires a brown dwarf donor (sim0.02M_sun), making Swift J1753.5-0127 a possible analogue of millisecond X-ray pulsars.We compare the properties of Swift J1753.5-0127 with other recently discovered short-period transients, which are now forming a separate population of high latitude BH transients located in the galactic halo.

During the operational life of the Italian/Dutch X-ray satellite (1996-2002), BeppoSAX, its two Wide Field Cameras performed observations that covered the full sky at different epochs. Although the majority of analysis performed on BeppoSAX WFC data concentrated on the detection of transient sources, we have now applied the same techniques developed for the INTEGRAL/IBIS survey to produce the same work with the BeppoSAX WFC data. This work represents the first unbiased source list compilation produced from the overall WFC data set optimised for faint persistent sources detection. This approach recovers 182 more sources compared to the previous WFC catalogue reported in Verrecchia et al. (2007). The catalogue contains 404 sources detected between 3-17 keV, 10 of which are yet to be seen by the new generation of telescopes.

The supergiant fast X-ray transient (SFXT) system IGR J17544-2619 has displayed many large outbursts in the past and is considered an archetypal example of SFXTs. A search of the INTEGRAL/ISGRI data archive from MJD 52698-54354 has revealed 11 outbur sts and timing analysis of the light curve identifies a period of 4.926$pm$0.001 days which we interpret as the orbital period of the system. We find that large outbursts occasionally occur outside of periastron and place an upper limit for the radius of the supergiant of <23R$_{sun}$.
The INTEGRAL/IBIS survey was performed collecting all the GPS and GCDE data together with all the available public data . The second catalogue, published in 2006 by Bird et al., is dominated by detection of 113 X-ray binaries, with 38 being high-mass and 67 low-mass. In most systems the compact object is a neutron star, but the sample also contains 4 confirmed Black Holes and 6 LMXB black hole candidates (BHC). There are also, in additional, 6 tentative associations as BHCs based simply on spectral and timing properties. In the sample of 12 sources (BHC and tentatively associated BHC) there are 7 transient sources that went into outbursts during the INTEGRAL survey observations. We present here the monitoring of the time and spectral evolution of these 7 outbursts.
