The gravitational form factors (GFFs) of hadrons encode the matrix elements of the energy momentum tensor of QCD. These quantities describe how energy, spin, and various mechanical properties of hadrons are carried by their quark and gluon constituents. We present the gluon GFFs of the pion, nucleon, $rho$ meson, and $Delta$ baryon as functions of the squared momentum transfer $t$ in the region $0 leq -t < 2 ; text{GeV}^2$, as determined in a lattice QCD study with pion mass $m_{pi} = 450(5) ; text{MeV}$. By fitting the extracted GFFs using multipole and z-parameter expansion functional forms, we extract various gluon contributions to the energy, pressure, and shear force distributions of the hadrons in the 3D and 2D Breit frames as well as in the infinite momentum frame. We also obtain estimates for the corresponding gluon mechanical and mass radii, as well as the forward-limit gluon contributions to the momentum fraction and angular momentum of the hadrons.

We perform a Nf = 2 + 1 lattice QCD simulation to determine the quark spin fractions of hadrons using the Feynman-Hellmann theorem. By introducing an external spin operator to the fermion action, the matrix elements relevant for quark spin fractions are extracted from the linear response of the hadron energies. Simulations indicate that the Feynman-Hellmann method offers statistical precision that is comparable to the standard three-point function approach, with the added benefit that it is less susceptible to excited state contamination. This suggests that the Feynman-Hellmann technique offers a promising alternative for calculations of quark line disconnected contributions to hadronic matrix elements. At the SU(3)-flavour symmetry point, we find that the connected quark spin fractions are universally in the range 55-70% for vector mesons and octet and decuplet baryons. There is an indication that the amount of spin suppression is quite sensitive to the strength of SU(3) breaking.
We present a valence calculation of the electric polarizability of the neutron, neutral pion, and neutral kaon on two dynamically generated nHYP-clover ensembles. The pion masses for these ensembles are 227(2) MeV and 306(1) MeV, which are the lowest ones used in polarizability studies. This is part of a program geared towards determining these parameters at the physical point. We carry out a high statistics calculation that allows us to: (1) perform an extrapolation of the kaon polarizability to the physical point; we find $alpha_K =0.269(43)times10^{-4}$fm$^{3}$, (2) quantitatively compare our neutron polarizability results with predictions from $chi$PT, and (3) analyze the dependence on both the valence and sea quark masses. The kaon polarizability varies slowly with the light quark mass and the extrapolation can be done with high confidence.
Progress in computing the spectrum of excited baryons and mesons in lattice QCD is described. Large sets of spatially-extended hadron operators are used. A new method of stochastically estimating the low-lying effects of quark propagation is utilized which allows reliable determinations of temporal correlations of both single-hadron and multi-hadron operators. The method is tested on the eta, sigma, omega mesons.

Recent experiments at RHIC and theoretical considerations indicate that the quark-gluon plasma, present in the fireball of relativistic heavy-ion collisions, might be in a liquid phase. The liquid state can be identified by characteristic correlation and structure functions. Here definitions of the structure functions and pair correlations of the quark-gluon plasma are presented as well as perturbative results. These definitions might be useful for verifying the quark-gluon-plasma liquid in QCD lattice calculations.
In this paper we consider the parametrizations of gluon transverse momentum dependent (TMD) correlators in terms of TMD parton distribution functions (PDFs). These functions, referred to as TMDs, are defined as the Fourier transforms of hadronic matrix elements of nonlocal combinations of gluon fields. The nonlocality is bridged by gauge links, which have characteristic paths (future or past pointing), giving rise to a process dependence that breaks universality. For gluons, the specific correlator with one future and one past pointing gauge link is, in the limit of small $x$, related to a correlator of a single Wilson loop. We present the parametrization of Wilson loop correlators in terms of Wilson loop TMDs and discuss the relation between these functions and the small-$x$ `dipole gluon TMDs. This analysis shows which gluon TMDs are leading or suppressed in the small-$x$ limit. We discuss hadronic targets that are unpolarized, vector polarized (relevant for spin-$1/2$ and spin-$1$ hadrons), and tensor polarized (relevant for spin-$1$ hadrons). The latter are of interest for studies with a future Electron-Ion Collider with polarized deuterons.
