The ground state masses and binding energies of the nucleon, $Lambda^0$, $Lambda^+_c$, $Lambda^0_b$ are studied within a constituent quark QCD-inspired light-front model. The light-front Faddeev equations for the $Qqq$ composite spin 1/2 baryons, are derived and solved numerically. The experimental data for the masses are qualitatively described by a flavor independent effective interaction.

The unpolarized, helicity and transversity parton distribution functions of the nucleon are studied within a convolution model where the bare nucleon is dressed by its virtual meson cloud. Using light-front time-ordered perturbation theory, the Fock states of the physical nucleon are expanded in a series involving a bare nucleon and two-particle, meson-baryon, states. The bare baryons and mesons are described with light-front wave functions (LFWFs) for the corresponding valence-parton components. Using a representation in terms of overlap of LFWFs, the role of the non-perturbative antiquark degrees of freedom and the valence quark contribution at the input scale of the model is discussed for the leading-twist collinear parton distributions. After introducing perturbative QCD effects through evolution to experimental scales, the results are compared with available data and phenomenological extractions. Predictions for the nucleon tensor charge are also presented, finding a very good agreement with recent phenomenological extractions.
We calculate the quark spin contribution to the total angular momentum of flavor octet and flavor decuplet ground state baryons using a spin-flavor symmetry based parametrization method of quantum chromodynamics. We find that third order SU(6) symmetry breaking three-quark operators are necessary to explain the experimental result Sigma_1=0.32(10). For spin 3/2 decuplet baryons we predict that the quark spin contribution is Sigma_3=3.93(22), i.e. considerably larger than their total angular momentum.
The pion properties in symmetric nuclear matter are investigated with the Quark-Meson Coupling (QMC) Model plus the light-front constituent quark model~(LFCQM). The LFCQM has been quite successful in describing the properties of pseudoscalar mesons in vacuum, such as the electromagnetic elastic form factors, electromagnetic radii, and decay constants. We study the pion properties in symmetric nuclear matter with the in-medium input recalculated through the QMC model, which provides the in-medium modification of the LFCQM.

We extract the leading Fock-state light front wave functions (LF-LFWFs) of both the light and heavy pseudoscalar mesons, e.g., the pion (at masses of 130 MeV, 310 MeV and 690 MeV), $eta_c$ and $eta_b$, from their covariant Bethe-Salpeter wave functions within the rainbow-ladder (RL) truncation. It is shown that the LF-LFWFs get narrower in $x$ (the longitudinal momentum fraction of meson carried by the quark) with the increasing current quark mass, and the leading twist parton distribution amplitudes (PDAs) inherit this feature. Meanwhile, we find in the pion the LF-LFWFs only contribute around 30% to the total Fock-state normalization, indicating the presence of significant higher Fock-states within. In contrast, in the $eta_c$ and $eta_b$ the LF-LFWFs contribute more than $90$%, suggesting the $Qbar{Q}$ valence Fock-state truncation as a good approximation for heavy mesons. We thus study the 3-dimensional parton distributions of the $eta_c$ and $eta_b$ with the unpolarized generalized parton distribution function (GPD) and the transverse momentum dependent parton distribution function (TMD). Through the gravitational form factors in connection with the GPD, the mass radii of the $eta_c$ and $eta_b$ in the light-cone frame are determined to be $r_{E,{rm LC}}^{eta_c} =0.150$ fm and $r_{E,{rm LC}}^{eta_b} =0.089$ fm respectively.

We explore the link between the chiral symmetry of QCD and the numerical results of the light-front quark model, analyzing both the two-point and three-point functions of the pion. Including the axial-vector coupling as well as the pseudoscalar coupling in the light-front quark model, we discuss the implication of the chiral anomaly in describing the pion decay constant, the pion-photon transition form factor and the electromagnetic form factor of the pion. In constraining the model parameters, we find that the chiral anomaly plays a critical role and the analysis of $F_{pigamma}(Q^2)$ in timelike region is important. Our results indicate that the constituent quark picture is effective for the low and high $Q^2$ ranges implementing the quark mass evolution effect as $Q^2$ grows.
