We prove that there exists an open and dense subset $mathcal{U}$ in the space of $C^{2}$ expanding self-maps of the circle $mathbb{T}$ such that the Lyapunov minimizing measures of any $Tin{mathcal U}$ are uniquely supported on a periodic orbit. This answers a conjecture of Jenkinson-Morris in the $C^2$ topology.
Modulated crystals and quasicrystals can simultaneously be described as modulated quasicrystals, a class of point sets introduced by de Bruijn in 1987. With appropriate modulation functions, modulated quasicrystals themselves constitute a substantial subclass of strongly almost periodic point measures. We re-analyse these structures using methods from modern mathematical diffraction theory, thereby providing a coherent view over that class. Similarly to de Bruijns analysis, we find stability with respect to almost periodic modulations.
We consider random perturbations of a topologically transitive local diffeomorphism of a Riemannian manifold. We show that if an absolutely continuous ergodic stationary measures is expanding (all Lyapunov exponents positive), then there is a random Gibbs-Markov-Young structure which can be used to lift that measure. We also prove that if the original map admits a finite number of expanding invariant measures then the stationary measures of a sufficiently small stochastic perturbation are expanding.
We show that for a large class of maps on manifolds of arbitrary finite dimension, the existence of a Gibbs-Markov-Young structure (with Lebesgue as the reference measure) is a necessary as well as sufficient condition for the existence of an invariant probability measure which is absolutely continuous measure (with respect to Lebesgue) and for which all Lyapunov exponents are positive.
We study the asymptotic behavior of the Lyapunov exponent in a meromorphic family of random products of matrices in SL(2, C), as the parameter converges to a pole. We show that the blow-up of the Lyapunov exponent is governed by a quantity which can be interpreted as the non-Archimedean Lyapunov exponent of the family. We also describe the limit of the corresponding family of stationary measures on P 1 (C).
For symmetrically analytic deformation of the circle (with certain Fourier decaying rate), the necessary condition for the corresponding billiard map to keep the coexistence of periodic $2,3$ caustics is that the deformation has to be an isometric transformation.
