In this paper, we compute the effective action of both a scalar field and a Dirac spinor field in the global de Sitter space of any dimension $d$ using the in-/out-state formalism. We show that there is particle production in even dimensions for both scalar field and spinor field. The in-out vacuum amplitude $Z_{in/out}$ is divergent at late times. By using dimensional regularization, we extract the finite part of $log Z_{in/out}$ for $d$ even and the logarithmically divergent part of $log Z_{in/out}$ for $d$ odd. We also find that the regularized in-out vacuum amplitude equals the ratio of determinants associated with different quantizations in $AdS_d$ upon the identification of certain parameters in the two theories.

Calculating the quantum evolution of a de Sitter universe on superhorizon scales is notoriously difficult. To address this challenge, we introduce the Soft de Sitter Effective Theory (SdSET). This framework holds for superhorizon modes whose comoving momentum is far below the UV scale, which is set by the inverse comoving horizon. The SdSET is formulated using the same approach that yields the Heavy Quark Effective Theory. The degrees of freedom that capture the long wavelength dynamics are identified with the growing and decaying solutions to the equations of motion. The operator expansion is organized using a power counting scheme, and loops can be regulated while respecting the low energy symmetries. For massive quantum fields in a fixed de Sitter background, power counting implies that all interactions beyond the horizon are irrelevant. Alternatively, if the fields are very light, the leading interactions are at most marginal, and resumming the associated logarithms using (dynamical) renormalization group techniques yields the evolution equation for canonical stochastic inflation. The SdSET is also applicable to models where gravity is dynamical, including inflation. In this case, diffeomorphism invariance ensures that all interactions are irrelevant, trivially implying the all-orders conservation of adiabatic density fluctuations and gravitational waves. We briefly touch on the application to slow-roll eternal inflation by identifying novel relevant operators. This work serves to demystify many aspects of perturbation theory outside the horizon, and has a variety of applications to problems of cosmological interest.
We consider massless fields of arbitrary spin in de Sitter space. We introduce a spinor-helicity formalism, which encodes the field data on a cosmological horizon. These variables reduce the free S-matrix in an observers causal patch, i.e. the evolution of free fields from one horizon to another, to a simple Fourier transform. We show how this result arises via twistor theory, by decomposing the horizon<->horizon problem into a pair of (more symmetric) horizon<->twistor problems.
We construct five dimensional black rings in global anti-de Sitter space using numerical methods. These rings satisfy the BPS bound $| J | < M ell$, but the angular velocity always violates the Hawking-Reall bound $| Omega_H ell | leq 1$, indicating that they should be unstable under superradiance. At high temperatures, the limit $| Omega_H ell | searrow 1$ is attained by thin rings with an arbitrarily large radius. However, at sufficiently low temperatures, this limit is saturated by a new kind of rings, whose outer circle can still be arbitrarily long while the hole in the middle does not grow proportionally. This gives rise to a membrane-like horizon geometry, which does not have an asymptotically flat counterpart. We find no evidence for thin AdS black rings whose transverse $S^2$ is much larger than the radius of AdS, $ell$, and thus these solutions never fall into the hydrodynamic regime of the dual CFT. Thermodynamically, we find that AdS black rings never dominate the grand canonical ensemble. The behaviour of our solutions in the microcanonical ensemble approaches known perturbative results in the thin-ring limit.

$CPT$ groups for spinor fields in de Sitter and anti-de Sitter spaces are defined in the framework of automorphism groups of Clifford algebras. It is shown that de Sitter spaces with mutually opposite signatures correspond to Clifford algebras with different algebraic structure that induces an essential difference of $CPT$ groups associated with these spaces. $CPT$ groups for charged particles are considered with respect to phase factors on the various spinor spaces related with real subalgebras of the simple Clifford algebra over the complex field (Dirac algebra). It is shown that $CPT$ groups for neutral particles which admit particle-antiparticle interchange and $CPT$ groups for truly neutral particles are described within semisimple Clifford algebras with quaternionic and real division rings, respectively. A difference between bosonic and fermionic $CPT$ groups is discussed.
We have studied the induced one-loop energy-momentum tensor of a massive complex scalar field within the framework of nonperturbative quantum electrodynamics (QED) with a uniform electric field background on the Poincare patch of the two-dimensional de Sitter spacetime ($mathrm{dS_{2}}$). We also consider a direct coupling the scalar field to the Ricci scalar curvature which is parameterized by an arbitrary dimensionless nonminimal coupling constant. We evaluate the trace anomaly of the induced energy-momentum tensor. We show that our results for the induced energy-momentum tensor in the zero electric field case, and the trace anomaly are in agreement with the existing literature. Furthermore, we construct the one-loop effective Lagrangian from the induced energy-momentum tensor.
