We investigate a new property of retarded Greens functions using AdS/CFT. The Greens functions are not unique at special points in complex momentum space. This arises because there is no unique incoming mode at the horizon and is similar to the pole-skipping phenomenon in holographic chaos. Our examples include the bulk scalar field, the bulk Maxwell vector and scalar modes, and the shear mode of gravitational perturbations. In these examples, the special points are always located at $omega_star = -i(2pi T)$ with appropriate values of complex wave number.

We point out little discussed phenomenon in elementary quantum mechanics. In one-dimensional potential scattering problems, the scattering amplitudes are not uniquely determined at special points in parameter space. We examine a few explicit examples. We also discuss the relation with the pole-skipping phenomena recently found in holographic duality. In the holographic pole-skipping, the retarded Greens functions are not uniquely determined at imaginary Matsubara frequencies. It turns out that this universality comes from the fact that the corresponding potential scattering problem has the angular momentum potential.

I will discuss some aspects of the concept of point in quantum gravity, using mainly the tool of noncommutative geometry. I will argue that at Plancks distances the very concept of point may lose its meaning. I will then show how, using the spectral action and a high momenta expansion, the connections between points, as probed by boson propagators, vanish. This discussion follows closely [1] (Kurkov-Lizzi-Vassilevich Phys. Lett. B 731 (2014) 311, [arXiv:1312.2235 [hep-th]].
We calculate the Green functions for a scalar field theory with quartic interactions for which the fields are multiplied with a generic translation invariant star product. Our analysis involves both noncommutative products, for which there is the canonical commutation relation among coordinates, and nonlocal commutative products. We give explicit expressions for the one-loop corrections to the two and four point functions. We find that the phenomenon of ultraviolet/infrared mixing is always a consequence of the presence of noncommuting variables. The commutative part of the product does not have the mixing.

Assuming that the large-$N$ master field of the Lorentzian IIB matrix model has been obtained, we go through the procedure of how the coordinates of emerging spacetime points can be extracted. Explicit calculations with test master fields suggest that the genuine IIB-matrix-model master field may have a fine-structure that is essential for producing the spacetime points of an expanding universe.
We discuss a way to obtain the doubly special relativity kinematical rules (the deformed energy-momentum relation and the nonlinear Lorentz transformations of momenta) starting from a singular Lagrangian action of a particle with linearly realized SO(1,4) symmetry group. The deformed energy-momentum relation appears in a special gauge of the model. The nonlinear transformations of momenta arise from the requirement of covariance of the chosen gauge.
