A spin-foam model is derived from the canonical model of Loop Quantum Gravity coupled to a massless scalar field. We generalized to the full theory the scheme first proposed in the context of Loop Quantum Cosmology by Ashtekar, Campiglia and Henderson, later developed by Henderson, Rovelli, Vidotto and Wilson-Ewing.

We consider the Wheeler-De Witt equation for canonical quantum gravity coupled to massless scalar field. After regularizing and renormalizing this equation, we find a one-parameter class of its solutions.

We study the solutions of the wave equation where a massless scalar field is coupled to the Wahlquist metric, a type-D solution. We first take the full metric and then write simplifications of the metric by taking some of the constants in the metric null. When we do not equate any of the arbitrary constants in the metric to zero, we find the solution is given in terms of the general Heun function, apart from some simple functions multiplying this solution. This is also true, if we equate one of the constants $Q_0$ or $a_1$ to zero. When both the NUT-related constant $a_1$ and $Q_0$ are zero, the singly confluent Heun function is the solution. When we also equate the constant $ u_0$ to zero, we get the double confluent Heun-type solution. In the latter two cases, we have an exponential and two monomials raised to powers multiplying the Heun type function. Thus, we generalize the Batic et al. result for type-D metrics for this metric and show that all variations of the Wahlquist metric give Heun type solutions.
The massless minimally coupled scalar field in de Sitter ambient space formalism might play a similar role to what the Higgs scalar field accomplishes within the electroweak standard model. With the introduction of a local transformation for this field, the interaction Lagrangian between the scalar field and the spinor field can be made similar to a gauge theory. In the null curvature limit, the Yukawa potential can be constructed from that Lagrangian. Finally the one-loop correction of the scalar-spinor interaction is presented, which is free of any infrared divergence.
We show that the combined minimal and non minimal interaction with the gravitational field may produce the generation of a cosmological constant without self-interaction of the scalar field. In the same vein we analyze the existence of states of a scalar field that by a combined interaction of minimal and non minimal coupling with the gravitational field can exhibit an unexpected property, to wit, they are acted on by the gravitational field but do not generate gravitational field. In other words, states that seems to violate the action-reaction principle. We present explicit examples of this situation in the framework of a spatially isotropic and homogeneous universe.

The canonical ``loop formulation of quantum gravity is a mathematically well defined, background independent, non perturbative standard quantization of Einsteins theory of General Relativity. Some among the most meaningful results of the theory are: 1) the complete calculation of the spectrum of geometric quantities like the area and the volume and the consequent physical predictions about the structure of the space-time at the Plank scale; 2) a microscopical derivation of the Bekenstein-Hawking black-hole entropy formula. Unfortunately, despite recent results, the dynamical aspect of the theory (imposition of the Wheller-De Witt constraint) remains elusive. After a short description of the basic ideas and the main results of loop quantum gravity we show in which sence the exponential of the super Hamiltonian constraint leads to the concept of spin foam and to a four dimensional formulation of the theory. Moreover, we show that some topological field theories as the BF theory in 3 and 4 dimension admits a spin foam formulation. We argue that the spin-foams/spin-networks formalism it is the natural framework to discuss loop quantum gravity and topological field theory.
