Quantum correlations are investigated theoretically in a two-spin system with the dipole-dipole interactions in the NMR multiple-pulse spin-locking experiments. We consider two schemes of the multiple-pulse spin-locking. The first scheme consists of $pi/2$-pulses only and the delays between the pulses can differ. The second scheme contains $varphi$-pulses ($0<varphi<pi$) and has equal delays between them. We calculate entanglement for both schemes for an initial separable state. We show that entanglement is absent for the first scheme at equal delays between $pi/2$-pulses at arbitraty temperatures. Entanglement emerges after several periods of the pulse sequence in the second scheme at $varphi=pi/4$ at milliKelvin temperatures. The necessary number of the periods increases with increasing temperature. We demonstrate the dependence of entanglement on the number of the periods of the multiple-pulse sequence. Quantum discord is obtained for the first scheme of the multiple-pulse spin-locking experiment at different temperatures.
We investigate the evolution of entanglement in multiple-quantum (MQ) NMR experiments in crystals with pairs of close nuclear spins-1/2. The initial thermodynamic equilibrium state of the system in a strong external magnetic field evolves under the non-secular part of the dipolar Hamiltonian. As a result, MQ coherences of the zeroth and plus/minus second orders appear. A simple condition for the emergence of entanglement is obtained. We show that the measure of the spin pair entanglement, concurrence, coincides qualitatively with the intensity of MQ coherences of the plus/minus second order and hence the entanglement can be studied with MQ NMR methods. We introduce an Entanglement Witness using MQ NMR coherences of the plus/minus second order.
Dymanics of spin dimers in multiple quantum NMR experiment is studied on the 5-qubit superconducting quantum processor of IBM {Quantum Experience} for the both {pure} ground and thermodynamic equilibrium (mixed) initial states. The work can be considered as a first step towards an application of quantum computers to solving problems of magnetic resonance. This article is dedicated to Prof. Klaus Mobius and Prof. Kev Salikhov on the occasion of their 85th birthdays.
A phenomenological theory of spin-lattice relaxation of multiple-quantum coherences in systems of two dipolar coupled spins at low temperatures is developed. Intensities of multiple-quantum NMR coherences depending on the spin-lattice relaxation time are obtained. It is shown that the theory is also applicable to finite spin chains when the approximation of nearest neighbour interaction is used. An application of this theory to an estimation of the influence of decoherence processes on quantum entanglement and its fluctuations is briefly discussed.
A locking protocol between two parties is as follows: Alice gives an encrypted classical message to Bob which she does not want Bob to be able to read until she gives him the key. If Alice is using classical resources, and she wants to approach unconditional security, then the key and the message must have comparable sizes. But if Alice prepares a quantum state, the size of the key can be comparatively negligible. This effect is called quantum locking. Entanglement does not play a role in this quantum advantage. We show that, in this scenario, the quantum discord quantifies the advantage of the quantum protocol over the corresponding classical one for any classical-quantum state.
Multiple quantum (MQ) NMR with a dipolar ordered initial state opens new possibilities for the exploration of many-spin entanglement. In this paper, we investigate many-spin entanglement in a gas of spin-carrying molecules (atoms) in nanocavities in the conditions of MQ NMR with a dipolar ordered initial state. The second moment of the distribution of the intensities of MQ NMR coherences, which provides a lower bound on the quantum Fisher information, is used for an estimate of the number of the entangled spins. Many-spin entanglement is investigated at different temperatures and different numbers of spins.
