A shift-symmetric Galileon model in presence of spacetime torsion has been constructed for the first time. This has been realized by localizing (or, gauging) the Galileon symmetry in flat spacetime in an appropriate manner. We have applied the above model to study the evolution of the universe at a cosmological scale. Interestingly, for a wide class of torsional structures we have shown that the model leads to late time cosmic acceleration. Furthermore, as torsion vanishes, our model reproduces the standard results.

We studied spherically symmetric solutions in scalar-torsion gravity theories in which a scalar field is coupled to torsion with a derivative coupling. We obtained the general field equations from which we extracted a decoupled master equation, the solution of which leads to the specification of all other unknown functions. We first obtained an exact solution which represents a new wormhole-like solution dressed with a regular scalar field. Then, we found large distance linearized spherically symmetric solutions in which the space asymptotically is AdS.
The article communicates an alternative route to suffice the late-time acceleration considering a bulk viscous fluid with viscosity coefficient $zeta =zeta _{0}+ zeta _{1} H + zeta _{2} H^{2}$, where $zeta _{0}, zeta _{1}, zeta _{2}$ are constants in the framework of $f(R,T)$ modified gravity. We presume the $f(R,T)$ functional form to be $f=R+2alpha T$ where $alpha$ is a constant. We then solve the field equations for the Hubble Parameter and study the cosmological dynamics of kinematic variables such as deceleration, jerk, snap and lerk parameters as a function of cosmic time. We observe the deceleration parameter to be highly sensitive to $alpha$ and undergoes a signature flipping at around $tsim 10$ Gyrs for $alpha=-0.179$ which is favored by observations. The EoS parameter for our model assumes values close to $-1$ at $t_{0}=13.7$Gyrs which is in remarkable agreement with the latest Planck measurements. Next, we study the evolution of energy conditions and find that our model violate the Strong Energy Condition in order to explain the late-time cosmic acceleration. To understand the nature of dark energy mimicked by the bulk viscous baryonic fluid, we perform some geometrical diagnostics like the ${r,s}$ and ${r,q}$ plane. We found the model to mimic the nature of a Chaplygin gas type dark energy model at early times while a Quintessence type in distant future. Finally, we study the violation of continuity equation for our model and show that in order to explain the cosmic acceleration at the present epoch, energy-momentum must violate.
A Friedmann like cosmological model in Einstein-Cartan framework is studied when the torsion function is assumed to be proportional to a single $phi(t)$ function coming just from the spin vector contribution of ordinary matter. By analysing four different types of torsion function written in terms of one, two and three free parameters, we found that a model with $phi(t)=- alpha H(t) big({rho_{m}(t)}/{rho_{0c}}big)^n$ is totally compatible with recent cosmological data, where $alpha$ and $n$ are free parameters to be constrained from observations, $rho_m$ is the matter energy density and $rho_{0c}$ the critical density. The recent accelerated phase of expansion of the universe is correctly reproduced by the contribution coming from torsion function, with a deceleration parameter indicating a transition redshift of about $0.65$.
Cubic Galileon massive gravity is a development of de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolly (dRGT) massive gravity theory is which the space of the Stueckelberg field is broken. We consider the cubic Galileon term as a scalar field coupled to the graviton filed. We present a detailed study of the cosmological aspects of this theory of gravity. We analyze self-accelerating solutions of the background equations of motion to explain the accelerated expansion of the Universe. Exploiting the latest Union2 Type Ia Supernovea (SNIa) dataset, which consists of 557 SNIa, we show that cubic Galileon massive gravity theory is consistent with the observations. We also examine the tensor perturbations within the framework of this model and find an expression for the dispersion relation of gravitational waves, and show that it is consistent with the observational results.
We study the dynamic collapse driven by a scalar field, when a relativistic observer falls co-moving with the collapse and cross the horizon of a Schwarzschild black-hole (BH), at $t=t_0$. During the collapse the scale of time is considered as variable. Back-reaction effects and gravitational waves produced during the exponential collapse are studied. We demonstrate that back-reaction effects act as the source of gravitational waves emitted during the collapse, and wavelengths of gravitational waves (GW) are in the range: $lambda ll r_sequiv {e^{-2h_0t_0}over 2 h_0}$, that is, smaller than the Schwarzschild radius. We demonstrate that during all the collapse the global topology of the space-time remains hyperbolic when the observer cross the horizon.
