We investigate the electronic instabilities in a Kagome lattice with Rashba spin-orbital coupling by the unbiased singular-mode functional renormalization group. At the parent $1/3$-filling, the normal state is a quantum spin Hall system. Since the bottom of the conduction band is near the van Hove singularity, the electron-doped system is highly susceptible to competing orders upon electron interactions. The topological nature of the parent system enriches the complexity and novelty of such orders. We find $120^o$-type intra-unitcell antiferromagnetic order, $f$-wave superconductivity and chiral $p$-wave superconductivity with increasing electron doping above the van Hove point. In both types of superconducting phases, there is a mixture of comparable spin singlet and triplet components because of the Rashba coupling. The chiral $p$-wave superconducting state is characterized by a Chern number $Z=1$, supporting a branch of Weyl fermion states on each edge. The model bares close relevance to the so-called $sd^2$-graphenes proposed recently.

We investigate the superconductivity (SC) driven by correlation effects in electron-doped bilayer BiH near a type-II van Hove singularity (vHS). By functional renormalization group, we find triplet $p$-wave pairing prevails in the interaction parameter space, except for spin density wave (SDW) closer to the vHS or when the interaction is too strong. Because of the large atomic spin-orbital coupling (SOC), the $p$-wave pairing occurs between equal-spin electrons, and is chiral and two-fold degenerate. The chiral state supports in-gap edge states, even though the low energy bands in the SC state are topologically trivial. The absence of mirror symmetry allows Rashba SOC that couples unequal spins, but we find its effect is of very high order, and can only drive the chiral $p$-wave into helical $p$-wave deep in the SC state. Interestingly, there is a six-fold degeneracy in the helical states, reflected by the relative phase angle $theta=npi/3$ (for integer $n$) between the spin components of the helical pairing function. The phase angle is shown to be stable in the vortex state.

Much excitement surrounds the possibility that strontium ruthenate exhibits chiral p-wave superconducting order. Such order would be a solid state analogue of the A phase of He-3, with the potential for exotic physics relevant to quantum computing. We take a critical look at the evidence for such time-reversal symmetry breaking order. The possible superconducting order parameter symmetries and the evidence for and against chiral p-wave order are reviewed, with an emphasis on the most recent theoretical predictions and experimental observations. In particular, attempts to reconcile experimental observations and theoretical predictions for the spontaneous supercurrents expected at sample edges and domain walls of a chiral p-wave superconductor and for the polar Kerr effect, a key signature of broken time-reversal symmetry, are discussed.
The possibility of p-wave pairing in superconductors has been proposed more than five decades ago, but has not yet been convincingly demonstrated. One difficulty is that some p-wave states are thermodynamically indistinguishable from s-wave, while others are very similar to d-wave states. Here we studied the self-field critical current of NdFeAs(O,F) thin films in order to extract absolute values of the London penetration depth, the superconducting energy gap, and the relative jump in specific heat at the superconducting transition temperature, and find that all the deduced physical parameters strongly indicate that NdFeAs(O,F) is a bulk p-wave superconductor. Further investigation revealed that single atomic layer FeSe also shows p-wave pairing. In an attempt to generalize these findings, we re-examined the whole inventory of superfluid density measurements in iron-based superconductors show quite generally that most of the iron-based superconductors are p-wave superconductors.
In this paper we study the effects of hybridization in the superconducting properties of a two-band system. We consider the cases that these bands are formed by electronic orbitals with angular momentum, such that, the hybridization $V(mathbf{k})$ among them can be symmetric or antisymmetric under inversion symmetry. We take into account only intra-band attractive interactions in the two bands and investigate the appearance of an induced inter-band pairing gap. We show that (inter-band) superconducting orderings are induced in the total absence of attractive interaction between the two bands, which turns out to be completely dependent on the hybridization between them. For the case of antisymmetric hybridization we show that the induced inter-band superconductivity has a p-wave symmetry.
Superconductivity (SC) and charge-density wave (CDW) are two contrasting yet relevant collective electronic states which have received sustained interest for decades. Here we report that, in a layered europium bismuth sulfofluoride, EuBiS$_2$F, a CDW-like transition occurs at 280 K, below which SC emerges at 0.3 K, without any extrinsic doping. The Eu ions were found to exhibit an anomalously temperature-independent mixed valence of about +2.2, associated with the formation of CDW. The mixed valence of Eu gives rise to self electron doping into the conduction bands mainly consisting of the in-plane Bi-6$p$ states, which in turn brings about the CDW and SC. In particular, the electronic specific-heat coefficient is enhanced by ~ 50 times, owing to the significant hybridizations between Eu-4$f$ and Bi-6$p$ electrons, as verified by band-structure calculations. Thus, EuBiS$_2$F manifests itself as an unprecedented material that simultaneously accommodates SC, CDW and $f$-electron valence instability.
